Hi - I'm hoping somebody can help me with css code.

I'm converting an html transitional template to html 5. It's currently in three columns traditional, and I want it to be flexible.

The CSS sheet is already set up - so I think I need to alter/enter code here to make the current structure flexible- the problem is that a] I don't know what needs too be changed (what I'm looking for in the CSS sheet)
and b] I don't know what to change it to, in term of flexible structure coding

can someone help please?
thanks a lot

Hi

thanks for your reply. I have a web site already being hosted - so I'm not sure
how to show you. I tried attaching the pages here but can't attach html, and I'm not having much
luck trying to zip them. Are you aware of something else that I'm not? I am pretty new to this

thanks again

Hi - here are the pages attached - (sorted prior prob).

The master copy is what I'm working on and the css page is for that.
Ive also attached a coffee cup responsive/fluid page just for reference
It looks as though I might be able to alter the html page code which has a single 'fluid-left' line to each element
but I'm not sure or whether anything else would need to be adjusted, and also no idea how to reconstruct the css page :

all help much appreciated

thanks again
Mary

Looking at your style sheet, I think much will be done if you change all the px widths to em or %. But your master file seems to have a lot of included shtml files, so until we can see the live site, with the shtml files, we can only make assumptions. So your site URL would be useful.

Hi

thanks for the replies. I currently have a live 27+page site with loads of pics. I'm not sure how to launch this alternative template as I'm pretty sure the hosts database will be messed up in the to and fro, and they won't accept a different site format/look as a sub domain.

Anyway there are some of the includes in the attached zip so you can see what the html looks like, they're just there so any inserted text can be easily duplicated from one html page to another, I don't think there's anything to do with page width and I could easily delete most out

best wishes

The live site doesn't use the template I'm trying to change to a responsive and flexiblestructure - that has a different css sheet . I'm trying to rebuild it from scratch

I'm assuming that you are using the html Editor. As I said earlier:
Looking at your style sheet, I think much will be done if you change all the px widths to em or %.

CC have a lot of responsive templates/themes that you can use as a starting point. Or you can take a look at the link below, where I am trying to help somelone else. Download the attachment and see if you can use some of it. It should give you some ideas about responsiveness at least.
