I removed my web site from Netfirms providers where it had been for 7 years and transferred to S-drive. Netfirms had email with the site and worked fine. The S-drive does not have email so I set up the Google apps email. I have it and it is working fine. It was free when i set it up. I got recent notice that I will continue to get it for free but it no longer is being offered for free and costs now like 5 dollars a month.
The purpose of this entry though is about the advertizing on the Google Apps email. I was looking at some of my greg@workhorsepainting.com email this morning and was reading several advertising on my email from rival painting companies. I was thinking that it is insanely stupid for me to be using email that has advertising from rival painting contractors right on my email. I guess that I need to look for an email provider that does not advertise on my emails. I guess that Google would stop the advertising if I paid them for the email but I somehow believe that they would still advertise on the paid for email too. Anyone have any experience with this issue?

I received the same email I used for personal use, but the message I got was it would remain free, unless I wanted to upgrade. At at that point it would cost $5. You can also turn the ads off under the Settings > Importance signals for ads.

Sorry I've been out working all day. I looked on the Google Apps email settings. Google has the most confounding technical descriptions. It seems to me after having read the tech descriptions over and over and over very slowly and deliberately. If I block some advertisers like up to 500 I still get advertising on the email just not the ones I blocked, and I no longer get the ones I blocked in Google searches either, that is no good. It seems to me that in the opt out then I do not get personalized advertising but still get the normal random advertising which is not good also. That is if I was capable of understanding what they were trying to say about it. I do not know how the settings would work were I to upgrade the google apps email. $5.oo a month is the same as server providers costs so that is out of the question for free email. I have almost talked myself out of Google Apps email.

Greg one of the advantages of companies like JH for your hosting (sorry CC) is free email accounts with no advertising, as many as you want
