I remember getting a 14.4 modem for my birthday and it over $150 at the time

Oh if I only had the money I've spent on computers over the years...My very first PC had an RGB monitor, adn cost about $800. Then I added a 14.4 modem for $150, a 20MD Hdd $400, etc ... scares me what the costs used to be!

I ran a BBS on a Commodore 64 and then on a Commodore 128 had three floppy drives (and for a while on an Amiga)

Anybody shopping? I still have an Atari 800xl with 2 drives (working) and software! Still have a Commodore 64 and 128 with software and working! Even have the mouse and monitors!

Am I a hoarder Or just a packrat ??

Lets not forget the low price of memory either at that point in time on average $100 (US) for 1 Megabyte of RAM. Ouch! I still have a few of those laying around here, too bad they did not go up in value, hahaha! Also still have a Seagate 44 MB SCSI removable drive (big plastic cartridge with a giant platter inside). The stuff I have hung on to over the years...

Okay, who remembers this!

http://gunsmoke.me/cloud/graphics/5mbharddrive.jpg

Back in 1956, Pan Am's crew is loading a hard disk drive... with 5 MB of storage.
In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first 'super' computer with a hard disk drive and a ton of storage.

Your 8 GB USB memory stick holds 1,600 times more memory.
