Are you using the swfobject.js code? I have found that when I use that, IE never seems to cache the files and things work much smoother.

Yes, I am using the swfojbect.js code. It appears that both Firefox and IE store the xml file the cache/temporary files in such a way that a reload does not reload the file.

I personally do not see this as a problem, just something I need to be aware of. This is similar to the browser window not updating when I upload a change. Now I know I need to clear the cache to see the updated information.

Thanks for the research Bill, if it were just me I would agree with you. However my clients are not so tech savvy so its a bit hard to explain that they need to clear their cache... especially if they don't even realize that they are seeing old information.

Edit your calendar and check the box "Fix for displaying active content". Save, upload and copy the new code into your Website.

I will try to make some more tests today, but I suspect the browsers will find the change unless you make a change while they are viewing the calendar. I will let you know after I make the test.

I have taken some time to test the calendar. I always used my ftp program to upload changes, and never had a problem. Today I decided to try the built-in upload button from web Calendar.
When I make changes in web calendar to my existing on-line calendar, the .xml file is changed...that's good.

When I use web calendar to make a change, then upload from web calendar, no changes happen. Refresh does nothing. If I look at the .xml file on the web, it has not been updated. I went back and uploaded the xml file several times using web calendar (after making sure I saved changes) and it simply did not upload the new .xml file. The .xml file on my computer has all the changes, but web calendar upload is not uploading the new file.

I used my regular ftp software to upload the .xml file, and all is great. The changes are there like they should be.

I repeated the steps several times, and each time the web calendar upload did not upload the new .xml file changes. Yes it is connecting, and the log file does not indicate any errors.

I made a brand new calendar, and when I try to use the upload feature, I can't find my new calendar! It is in the same directory as the other one. I can see it on my computer, navigate to the location, launch it in my web browser, but can't see it to upload it at all. I can find it with other ftp software, and upload no problem.

It seems that for me, I can change an existing calendar, but the built-in ftp program can not see the new files I am creating, so it uploads the old file. I tried closing the program and opening it again. I can open the file I created a few minutes before, but I still can't find it to upload.

Will remove it, reboot and instal again and test again. Weird behaviour.

Cliff: you know I had same problem so I gave up and started just using my FTP program because I didn't want to take the time to figure out why it didn't seem to be working. I'd love to know how it can be fixed.

I just tried re-booting my computer, and then opened web calendar. I could navigate to and open the new calendar I made a few minutes ago, but when I tried to upload it using the calendar upload button, I could not find that same file on my computer...the same one I just opened in web calendar!

alyanm, sorry you had/have the same problem, but I was starting to think it was just me and my computer. Could it be a bug that needs fixing?

I have been using Coffeecup software for a long time. I should know how to do this!?? I have found that my uploads are going to the wrong directory. I set up the web calendar upload feature with the proper user name and pass. The upload log says it is complete, but the upload is going directly to the root of the web site host, and not into my public_html file, or the "www" folder if you will. The files can not be accessed where they are being sent. In the settings for upload, in the "initial host folder" box, I put public_html, which is the name of my folder I put all of my web pages, sub folders and all that stuff.
It is a mistake on my part, but I don't know how to fix it. What am I supposed to put in the "Initial Host Folder" if not the name of the folder I want the files uploaded to?

If I can get that set up properly, it would explain a lot of the problems I have had with uploading other coffeecup software to my server.

All you should have to do is edit your ftp profile and change the "Initial Host Folder to public_html and you should be all set. Depending on your server, it could be /public_html or just public_html
