Guess I just don't see the problem here... They are separate programs, and are being supported and updated. Some users don't need the FULL functionality of the PRO edition

Quite agree with that, as I had the basic version, and upgraded to the PRO version without fuss.

But I don't think the old flash version is going to be supported, and or updated as with the SCC Basic. Or not for long anyway. :|

It's about the same deal as Shopping Cart Creator and Shopping Cart Creator Pro. Adding more features and calling it a new program...

Guess I just don't see the problem here... They are separate programs, and are being supported and updated. Some users don't need the FULL functionality of the PRO edition, just like some Win 7 users don't need the FULL functionality of the Ultimate edition (but yet people don't complain that MS released 6 different options, when you consider that you HAD to choose between 32 and 64 bit, and can't switch back and forth even).

But Win 7 didn't advertise free upgrades for life with just one basic version, then after everybody had purchased it, surprise surprise, you can now buy the ultimate version for an additional purchase. Don't get me wrong, I had no problem buying the new Form Builder, but I was real disappointed after owning Shopping Cart Creator and finding out SCC Pro was going to be not an upgrade, but quite a substantial additional cost with no real good upgrade pricing for current users ( unless I missed the email with a deal ). I can see the new Form Builder is probably a new program from the ground up, but SSCP is just SCC with added features .... isn't that, along with bug fixes, what normal upgrades are? Doesn't seem like free upgrades for life to me. Anyway, I'll crawl back in my box now. I'm still a die hard CoffeeCup fan, but I sure hope they follow this cycle into too many more programs.

Robert you did miss the deal. When SCC Pro was released, we ran a sale to get it for around $30 then had another to get it for $50. We also even had combo deals that included SCC Pro with Designer Pro and many other products for $75. Just going by memory here as this was 2 years ago, but we went way overboard in offering upgrade prices. We also even gave it free to anyone who just purchased Shopping Cart Creator Basic within the previous 14 days.

We are not some evil company bent on world domination. We are a business after all, but we have always treated our customers very well in everything we do.

Darn, I missed that $30 offer too. :D

1 Shopping Cart Creator Pro $129.00 USD
1 Discount: Shopping Cart Pro Pre-Release -$50.00 USD
Amount $79.00 USD

So I paid $49 for basic, less 20% for some offer I can't remember now, and then CC gave me my $50 back after I'd used the program for around 2 - 3 months. I call it a wash for me, and am still happy with my decision. It does have a LOT more features. I've built a great looking site (not as good as others) with limited ability to build carts. :)

Exactly.

Roboform released a "new" version of the "same" program instead of honoring their free upgrades for life promise. They lost a lot of loyal customers doing it too. It isn't about $30 dollars. Don't kid yourself.

I understand the effects of business decisions. Web designers have gone out of business by promising free updates for life. It catches up to you sooner or later.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

We still believe in life-time upgrades as it works very well for us. The Flash version just has reached the end of its life. Mobile browsers (iPhone and iPad specifically) pretty much put the nail in the coffin on that one. Our solution was to start from scratch and create a completely new program that will work on all platforms.

No one is forcing the upgrade on anyone. The Flash version will still work and we will still support it. There just will be no further development of the Flash version.

The form builder has been an excellent product that has produced some excellent forms for me over the years. That is why I jumped at the $29 offer. Great value. I am still playing with Web Image Studio and am finding that any kind of graphical object can be created with ease. Buttons, Logo's, Headers, Unlimited backgrounds for forms .
I now have a smattering of SQL/PHP ability and believe that the hard work of setting up a dynamic self updating page will be a breeze. The bundled graphic pack that came with it is like a tutorial of what is possible from the construction of objects point of view.

In a way CC has shot itself in the foot as with WIS, Themes that really hit the nail on the head are just a simple enjoyable playtime with this program.
