Some days I'm smart enough to realize that I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous. Others... I know I'm just stupid. Let me ask advice through this thread since it seems the most appropriate place. I have a quick site I want to build (I am mainly using the old VSD for sites... too stupid to go RED quite yet). All I want it to do it have a place for a user to upload a file (mainly .mp3 audio, actually) to be deposited into a directory. At that point, I can give the rest of the users the path to that directory to download files. Obviously I can maintain the directory through FTP on my server (Host Gator) and delete and inappropriate files as necessary... and... not give FTP access to users to do the same. Does any of this make sense?
I played with Web Form Builder (I own it) but am too stupid to put it all together. In other websites I've done, I've created an external file (like payments through 2co I embed html into my current site). Does this work in the same manner? Am I spinning my wheels with this thing? How do I tell it where to deposit the files on my server? Oh... and what's the meaning of life.

If you sue Web Formbuilder it will generate the needed folders for your files. Create a simple form with an Upload File element and export the form. Next paste the script provided by the form builder into a html element in vsd. Publish the form files and vsd to test.

Thanks, Eric. That worked great. The only issue I'm having, after playing around with it, is the file size quota. I uploaded a small .jpg to test with and had no problem. I tried a slightly larger one and got an error telling me the file exceeded the upload quota size. Is this a function of a parameter in Web Form Builder or Host Gator?!

That is limited by the form. Max size that it will upload is 8132kb.

I guess that's not going to work with audio files very well. Back to the drawing board!

You can set that amount higher after export.

Thanks. Just as an aside, HostGator says they allow 64mb on their shared servers so as not to hog resources (unless you use their dedicated servers).

My learning curve is getting better... but I'm still learning. I've adjusted the file size parameter in my web form but one thing leads to another. By default, the form doesn't want to allow .mp3 files. I went into the server and tried editing the string of file allowed types to include mp3 but it still didn't work. Just to confirm that it worked in every other way, I uploaded an audio file after changing its file extension from .mp3 to .jpg and had no issues. Thoughts / Suggestions? Thanks again!

I don't see mp3 in your validation.
