OK, so I down loaded HTML editor and I can hunt and poke my way around and fix the text stuff that needs updating. But the site was built using Adobe Go Live and eventually maintained with Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, but alas, I cant afford to keep paying adobe out the A** every year or two.
I don't really have HTML chops. So to my question....
Can I use Visual Site Designer on my existing site for modifications and such.
Here is a link to my site:
http://www.memphisastro.org
it is for the Memphis Astronomical Society (a 501c educational society)
OR, is Visual Site Designer limited to building NEW sites only. I really don't want to start over from scratch and the fellow that did our art work years ago ain't around to do it again.....

Thanks in advance for your support.

Hi James,
To use any other editor you'll have to rebuild the site. You'll be able to grab chunks of code for certain aspects of your site to use in VSD. Take a look a the site in my signature as it's full of examples of advanced techniques to use in VSD. The html editor is also a great tool. The built in split screen makes building websites a real dream.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yeah, although the HTML Editor may not have all the big bells and whistles that Dreamweaver has, it has a good chunk of them and may help you get things done. To be honest though, your site is done in some pretty old coding setups being that it's laid out using Tables instead of CSS, so in all honesty it may not hurt for you to redo it. Well it may "hurt" a little if you aren't sure how to do that hehe, but if you do decide to do it you can always opt to use VSD then and just start it from scratch and recreate it.

It looks like most of your components are iframed in so that wouldn't be too hard to redo. The main thing though is that a lot of the coding used on your site is deprecated (no longer considered appropriate and will eventually be phased out completely) and the layout being done using tables instead of CSS.

Something to think about if you end up deciding to do it over so that you know what to correct as you go. Using VSD would correct the tables thing on it's own so you wouldn't have to do anything for that part, VSD would write the correct code for you. Good luck whatever you decide to do for it though. :)

THANKYOU both for your feedback.
I didn't really understand CSS when I implemented its limited use.
As much as I have admired our graphics, the site doesn't lend itself to use on cellphones either, so I will start over.

I am getting too old to learn new stuff ( I have to forget something to make room ) so the WYSIWYG approach is likely the path for me. I will give VSD a go in a couple of weeks when I can afford it.
Thanks again for you attention.
