Is there a way to make my website compatible with smartphones and Ipads?
Don't use any Flash files is a good start, I'm sure others have suggestions as to size, length, styles etc.
My PalmPre renders sites pretty much the same as my laptop. Of course I need to flip my phone 90 deg. to get the best look.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Do you want to make it Mobile-compatible, or Mobile-friendly? There is a big difference. If it’s mobile compatibility that you want then make sure that you validate your code at W3C. Compress your images as much as possible (you should do this anyway) and make sure that your sites information is EASY to locate. Most people leave sites that are time consuming to find what they’re looking for.
For a mobile friendly site use as few images as possible and test your site on all the smartphone brands. Tweak along the way. Using WordPress WP touch PRO is a good way to go because it does most of the heavy lifting. And most importantly, be realistic, and don’t expect your website to look exactly the same on every smartphone/Pad or every browser. It won’t even do that on computers.
You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Works the same on my android phone and tablet. I dunno about iPads though as there is a flash menu on the site. Check it out and let me know if it works on your iPad.

Looks good on my iPad. You should though upgrade to build 24 however.

Thanks Scott, good to know. I will probably do the upgrade closer to Christmas when the current busy season is over.

My big things with mobile devices, especially my new android tablet is: there are very few browsers where you can enter in an address like ftp://ftpsite.com they either put an HTTP in front, or drop the ftp and put in an HTTP, or they take you to Google's site or they just site there. The ones that will take you there and let you logon, won't open a pdf file natively. Some sit there, and very few will download the file, then you have to go to the download folder and open it from within a file manager.
I suppose it is early days and hopefully within the next year it will come.

Paul, Google 'responsive design' to read about adapting websites for whatever device they may be displayed on. It's way too much info for a forum post, but the basic idea is that your site contracts and expands to fit the screen, whether phone, pad, laptop or tv.
This site is responsive, and CC recently launched its first responsive app, the Resp. Menu Builder. A responsive layout program is in the works and they already offer resp. themes for the HTML Editor and Form Builder.
