This isn't specifically a RSD problem but it is involved so I'm writing here because I couldn't find a forum that fitted with what I wanted to ask about.

All my CoffeeCup apps have files in different places on my computer. I've got a 2T hard drive and it has 3 partitions, Stuff (for general use), Games and Music. I haven't made a separate partition for web dev, instead I created a folder called Web Design and treat it like a partition. When I've install CoffeeCup apps I usually change the destination file to the web dev folder, so, for example, it will look like this:
This PC>Stuff(C)>WebDesign>CoffeeCup>CoffeeCup App

But, on occasion I haven't done this and have installed the app in Documents instead. The link then looks like this:
This PC>Documents>CoffeeCup Software>CoffeeCup App

In the Docs files there are lots of other files such as, themes etc., so it's messy. Also, there are CC apps in Program Files too. I'd like to have everything in one place but it seems like it would be quite a fiddle to do it unless I uninstall everything and start again.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to tidy up? Thanks.

Why worry about where applications are installed? Unless you have a compulsion to always navigate around with Explorer, where they are installed really makes no difference as you use the shortcut icons to open the software. What you are describing sounds like you are adding a lot of unnecessary work. Just let the applications install to the default locations. The only thing that is really important is where the project files are stored. Keep those in the same spot (like Documents).

Just my 2 cents anyways. I have been using that process myself for over a decade and it works very nicely.

My experience is, that you should let the programmes install to their default locations in order for them to work properly. That means, that they will be on the c: drive, where your windows system is located. Some programmes need to place files in certain system folders.

In the old days (and I mean VERY old days), you could literally install programmes anywhere on your computer, but that didn't mean that they, nor the actual Windows version, would be stable enough to run problem free (Seen the dreaded blue screens back in Win98?). From Win7 onwards (or was it XP?) the install options were limited, and for a reason. It was to keep the system - your operative system - clean, which is actually the most important thing, and it has to take priority over the 'tidyness' of other applications.

The CC programmes install mainly to c:\\users\your-name\appdata\roaming, but some files that have to be close to the system go into c:\\ProgramData, ProgramFiles and ProgramFiles(x86). The files where your work and changes are stored, will by default be in Documents\Coffeecup Software. Just do what Scott says: don't worry about the location, just use the shortcuts.
