Thank you Inger and now I feel really stupid. I couldn't find that either until you posted the image.
I know how that happened now that I know where the code was. i just was in a rush on that page and selected that container instead of the html element by mistake. I usually double check when pasting html code but just missed it said head section instead of html.

Eric, check the image on the next page of posts. I wouldn't have thought of looking there.

Thanks for all the help everyone,
Ernie

PS Inger, my wife's tumor is still shrinking but she had to have some fluid removed from her lung. All in all they said she's doing very well with her treatments.

No reason to feel stupid, we've all been there at some time!

I'm happy for you and your wife that things go the right way!

Still not there for me. I looked through all the element panes in my first attempt. At least you got it fixed.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Unless/until the Elements Tree includes a marker to show which elements have code entered via the Element panel, I have in mind to mark all such items by giving them IDs, such as 'code-1', 'code-2' etc. That will make those items easy to find by typing 'code' as the search clue in the Elements Tree.

Brilliant but if one puts code in the wrong element by mistake (as I have done a couple's of times) then that wouldn't show up as having code. But still a nice suggestions.

That would have been nice to have. I just got into a hurry with that page and didn't realize I had selected the container instead of the html element. I didn't catch the fact that it was labeled the Head section.

I never got successfully to download Ernie's SD project file, but I think I may have found a possible solution for such problems: the search box at the top of the Elements Tree searches the contents of elements as well as the information (class, id etc.) that actually shows in the Elements Tree.

I've tested this as follows on a project file which I know contains code in the Element panel.

1. I used 'Preview on...' to view the page.
2. I looked at the source code of the page [Ctrl+u in Firefox, but other browsers presumably have similar facilities].
3. I cut and pasted a small snippet from that source code to the search box at the top of the Elements Tree, not bothering even to get full words [the bit I've just experimented with was merely 'lector(".menu-div").style.'].
4. The relevant element immediately appeared as the only item in the Elements Tree, and checking the Element panel proved that it had found the right one. SD is perhaps cleverer than I had thought!

Perhaps someone will find situations where the above doesn't work, but it seems worth a shot where such difficulties arise.

Frank,

I took the file off my site because I fixed the 'going to fast screw up that I did'. If you'd like I can put the code back where it was and upload it again.

Hi Ernie.

My failure to download it successfully was when you first mentioned the problem. Somehow what I downloaded was corrupted. As your problem is resolved, I won't need it now, thanks.

Perhaps my posts will help others to avoid such situations, or to know that there is a fairly quick way to find elements which have code attached in the Element panel.
