A separate border element or border to the actual elements?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Well not sure now that you say that. Adam suggested to add some custom css to the grey-panel and dark-grey-panel in the coffeegrinder.css. This is the class I am applying to each column. I want to use the dark grey and light grey classes alternating on every template and have a top boarder appear at 320.

So add an rule <hr> use display none above 320? That's one possibility.

I don't think you understand my problem. I cannot get the top border to show up at all... very aggravating to be honest. I know a fair bit about css... i just cant find the right class to adjust to make the border to show.

.panel ?
Are you adding a border to the gray boxes or trying to show a separate element?

Works perfectly when I try it here. .grey-panel, .dark-grey-panel setting border-top:1px solid #333;

If you can not get it to work E-Mail me the .rlmp file and I will upload it here.

Steve, one other idea (I like the alternating lt/dk backgrounds, too)...
I'd leave out the green page illustration behind each web template. Then the template picture could be larger and centered. Have you tried the template names under the pictures? That would also create some separation when it goes to one column – you'd have:
picture—text picture—text....
rather than:
text—picture—text text—picture—text....
