Added Phil Spector 'Wall Of Sound Retrospective' 1961-1966 to my sixties music radio station http://sixties.johnvanhulst.com . Some of these songs are on other compilation CDs already, such is life.... Next: The Bee Gees, but I first have to buy a 'greatest hits' CD.

Have fun, John

I added the Bee Gees, their sixties hits, not the disco time/falsetto hits to http://sixties.johnvanhulst.com . I had some suggestions from listeners: The Left Banke (Walk Away Renee), The Monkees, Thunderclap Newman (Something in the Air), Norman Greenbaum (Spirit in the Sky), Barry McGuire (Eve of Destruction), The Marmalade. But I can't download single MP3 songs from Amazon, because of 'copyright restrictions' -sh*t!-, cause I'm Dutch, you remember? I remember having read a long time ago that you can compile your own 'Best of' CDs somewhere (not Amazon, as far as I know). Any suggestion?

I have a decent collection of The Monkees music.

John, I have bookmarked your site for sliding down memory lane off and on. The music really makes me smile and think about when I was young, had my first boyfriend, stayed out late and got told off when I got home and such things.. It also reminds me of a school party when a friend of mine took the 'Living Doll' record and smashed it on the head of one of the boys in our class... :D

Hi Inger,

Living doll was one of the first 45 singles I owned. It's a great single. Not the first one I owned though (I think I'm older than you are), my musical investigation started at the end of the fifties, with 75 rpm shellac records and Pat Boone. Love Letters in the Sand. Later on I played in a sixties cover band www.deadrabbits.nl to compensate....

While surfing the sixties collection on emusic, I discovered a major omission: The Creedence Clearwater Revival. And I even own a 'greatest hits' CD! I bought 3 early albums (the first one includes their fantastic version of 'I put A Spell On You'), you'll hear them soon on http://sixties.johnvanhulst.com , besides many other new songs/artists -yes, The Monkees-. Thanks again, Lowell.
