Hosting on GoDaddy
I currently have a few sites hosted here and I like the idea of keeping everything in one location. However I have a customer that wants his page hosted on GoDaddy. Is it possible to create a page with CC software and uploaded it and maintain it on their server. I also believe they are a Linux based server not windows will that be an issue.
Hello Jack,
It depends on what programs you are using.
However Linux Servers are the best kind. You should have no issue though.

Right now I plan on using VSD. Down the road the RLMP once I get use to it.
Hey Jack, No problems with GoDaddy. It's all I use and have many VSD and other websites hosted there. All CoffeeCup Software can access and work fine with GoDaddy.

I have been in contact with then and they sent me the IP for their server, User name, Password and home directory. Do I need an ftp client software to be able to connect to GoDaddy? I know I cannot simply hit the Publish button in VSD.
Years ago I used Cute FTP

Actually, I hit the publish in VSD all the time!
Just make sure to set your FTP Settings in VSD first.
Server: main GoDaddy domain ( your .com or whatever...)
username/password: need to be the FTP username/password, NOT the username/password used to sign onto GoDaddy with. If you don't have this, or the username/pass you have do not work, your client will have to contact GoDaddy and get the FTP username/passowrd.
Remote Folder: This seems to give a lot of users trouble. On GoDaddy if you are publishing to the root then just leave it BLANK. If you are publishing to a directory ( such as http://gunsmoke.me/test ) then enter test. You don't need any slashes.
Use Port 21, Passive Mode. Should work fine. Let me know if you need more.
