Dear forum,
1) I have problems using CoffeeCup even if I run CC as "administrator" from within the user account (right click on the program icon).
The CC program works, but .....
- can not create neccessary files and folders on the user account (please see attached images).
- when the "error text" shows the program locks itself and I have to force it to close (by crtl+alt+del)!
2) When using "Open" in CC, the default path is to the program folder (?). What is the purpose with this or what am I missing? Soemone else asked in the forum but was not really answered.
Is it possible to change this path? If so how, since I rather would have it to my "work folder"
Best regards / Nils, Sweden

When you installed the program did you select for the program to be available for all users?
I didn't see any attachments.

Hiya Nils,
Once you get it all working properly (try setting the shortcut to Run as Administrator and see if that also helps your issue if you are on Windows Vista or 7) you will be able to setup Projects for your sites that you work on. Once you do that then you will just open a project site and all the files will show on the tree and that will be the default location that opens when you do things. Until you have a project setup then yes it usually defaults to the CC directories.

Eric, I did not have that option when installing CoffeeCup, so no I did not. I know because I installed another program at the same time and they I had the option and thought that to be wise :-).
Hm ... I will try once again to add two gif images and hope they stick.
Jo, sorry for not letting you know I have XP. Of some reason I deleted that info when pasting the text into the forum. I understand that you write mostly about Vista or 7.
I do have changed the rights to run under "administrator", so CC is basically fine except that it can not "create file".

Hm .... I just found out that even if I change the rights to run as "administrator" when I look at it again it has changed back to only "actual user" and not "administrator". Tried several times with same result. No surpise that CC can not create file.
Anyone know how to make the change permanent?

You can change the path for where you want to have your files and folders stored. On the newer systems like Vista and 7 they are by default stored in 'My documents, in a Coffeecup folder and in a subfolder in there again (I'm on Linux right now so I can't check the correct path).
Earlier versions of the Editor installed on XP used to have a 'working' folder inside the CC programme folder, but I'm not sure if the location of the 'working' folder now is as in Vista and 7, or if it still is in the programme folder.
Anyway, in the Editor open Tools and find Preferences. Inside there you find a tab saying something like files and folders, and that is where you set the desired path.

It should be permanent if you rightclick the icon, select Properties, and find a tab called compatability. In there you have the possibility to check the box for Run as admin. There is also an option to make this change for all users.

Hi Inger,
You are absolutly right and I have done that BUT it did not change the path when using "Open".
However I read another posting somewhere about createing an empty project to solve that persons problem. So I did the same and saved that project in my working folder and suddenly the path had changed :-)
Have a nice evening. Nils

That is the problem, the change does not get permanent and their is no Run as Admin under Properties/Compatability :-(
As I said above, I'm away from home and on a Linux machine. But I have now borrowed a friend's computer running XPsp3 and installed the Editor (sure, Scott, I'll remove it again!)
I see that the 'working folder' now is in the Documents, as I was not sure of.
You're right, there is no Run as admin under properties-compatability. There is, under properties - shortcut - advanced an option to run with 'different credentials'. I have never used that option before, and I tried to select it and save, but on reopening the shortcut tab the selection was gone. I really don't know if it will help or not. I'll see if I can get someone from the CC staff to take a look...
