Yesterday I downloaded the free trial of VSD.
There were problems which were resolved and I successfully used the site for several hours.
This morning I cannot open the application. When I double click on the desktop icon the system shows busy for a few seconds - then nothing. Same thing when I go directly to the program through "start".
The screen resolution is still set at 100%.
Help.

Hello,
This can happen even if you are running as an Administrator, and it is caused by Windows very strict security settings.
To fix this, right-click your Visual Site Designer shortcut icon and select Run as Administrator. This should properly launch Visual Site Designer for you. If it does, great! You can continue to launch the program in this way, or you can go a step further and configure the shortcut to always run as administrator. Here's how:
1. Right-click the shortcut icon, and click Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Here, put a check mark by Run This Program as an Administrator.
4. Next, put a check mark next to Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For: and ensure Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 is selected.
5. Click OK.
If you continue having problems you may also need to set the application as an exception to Windows Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature. Normally if this is the culprit, you'll get a little bubble along the taskbar notifying you, which will allow you to set the offender as an exception.
One last option that could be the cause of this, and related to the DEP feature, is User Account Controls. This is the large window that appears in Vista asking you to "Allow" or "Deny" access to functions within programs. You can turn this off within your Control Panel > User Accounts window, along the left-hand pane.
All three options let you control your system exactly how you want and give you full access to do/run anything on the computer.

Hi, I'm running VSD trial version build 19 on my PC with XP. Now it does not launch anymore. In Vista the problem is solved by running the program as administrator but XP does not have that option as far as I know. Please advise.

Can you share any additional information?
1. Are you logged in as a limited user or Administrator?
2. What anti-virus programs and firewall applications are running?
3. Is the software installed to the default location?
4. Did you upgrade from a previous version of VSD or is this a fresh install?
5. Have you tried re-installing the software again?
Any additional information that you can think of that we should know will greatly help.

What are your DPI settings set to? If you look in your task manager, is VSD running?

DPI is set to 120. VSD is running if I click it but it is stuck at the opening screen (see attached picture)
There is the problem. Change it to 96 and reboot.

Ok, I can do that. But why than did VSD launch the first time correctly with DPI setting at 120?
Is there a way to get VSD to work with that DPI setting?
There is no way for the software to work correctly under any DPI setting higher then 96. Sorry.
