User Review of Direct FTP

by Tracy Besek
If you run one or more websites you know that it can be a pain to upload files individually using your servers upload feature. That is why I like CoffeeCup Direct FTP. CoffeeCup Direct FTP allows me to upload entire folders at one time with just a click of the button. CoffeeCup Direct FTP allows you to simply drag & drop your files or folders to your online server.

Even the initial steps to set up CoffeeCup Direct FTP are simple. You simply hit the "Servers" icon button in the upper left of the window. You then click the green plus sign to add your server's info, and the Server Setup Wizard walks you through 5 simple steps. You are then ready to connect to your online server with CoffeeCup Direct FTP to upload your web pages, images, and support files for your website.

I think the neatest feature of CoffeeCup Direct FTP is the ability to pull up a web page from your online server, and make quick edits to your content right there without having to worry about uploading it to your computer to edit it, and re-download it to your server when you are done.

CoffeeCup Direct FTP also allows you to change the upload settings from ASCII to Binary, or simply Auto which will determine what best way to send your info to your server. Auto takes most of the guess work out of which setting to use. How much more convenient can you get? How about being able to set up bookmarks to certain folders that you use most often?

I use bookmarks for some of the most used folders that I access. CoffeeCup Direct FTP allows me to take my most used folders, and bookmark them to make easier access to them rather than cycle through all the folders to get to the proper sub-folder. Simply hit the "View" button in the menu bar of CoffeeCup Direct FTP, and click on Bookmark Editor. At that point you can click on the folder you want to add a bookmark to, and drag that folder to the bottom of CoffeeCup's Direct FTP window into the Bookmark editor. Voila, you have a bookmark!

You can try other FTP programs out there if you like, but you won't be satisfied with the assortment of features until you try CoffeeCup Direct FTP! I like my coffee in a cup, and my web pages loaded to my server fast and easy.
