There is a very strange erratic behavior in creating buttons. Sometimes the drop-shadow works as it should and sometimes it does not. A button that is correctly displaying drop-shadow can immediately lose the cloudy quality with ANY editing. Everything looks perfectly find in VSD, but not on the published page.
I have run through just about every idea and experiment I can to sort this out. Sometimes they work and sometimes they do not. Buttons made on the page sometimes function, but then stop when copied.
See http://www.ancienttides.com/OurStandards.html for a collection of these occupationally working buttons. This has sucked up a whole day in attempted solutions.
Help me, Obewan....

Put more space between the buttons so the shadows that extend past the outside of the buttons don't touch the one next to it.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

That happens even when they are isolated on the page and with no overlap at all. The effect is inconsistent. Some buttons work just fine until copied and then they have the solid-background and not the drop-shadow.
I have made them from scratch.
I have copied them from working places.
I have done just about ever variation I can think of to see where a solution could rest.
And the buttonize text seems to have a default setting of Tahoma. How do I change that? It would help as every edit to a button changes it to no drop-shadow.

You can see the effect on the page I referenced. Buttons are lined up, separated, isolated, and combined.
Try dropping the background image from that page before copying.

I have tried this on a blank page and got the same result. Those that are made "fresh" on the page work well until I change the font and then they go sideways. Is there any way to reset the buttonize default for font?
The shadow goes crazy when you create the buttons on a blank page? Try removing the shadows then save and publish. Now re-add the shadows. The buttons I see appear to be copied from different pages that had different backgrounds.

I would also update to the latest version of VSD. You seem to be on Build 22 and the current version is Build 26. It is a FREE update. Just go to your name off the top menu, then select 'Your Purchases'. May not fix this problem, but you never know . . .

OK.... I had tried a few variations of that sort. I'll use the publish to see if I can get the shadow back. So far this has been really uphill. Thanks!

Off topic Sol,
but noticed the lobster pic on www.ancienttides.com took quite a while to come through.
Seems it is 2592 x 1936 in size and is 2108 kb and you have rescaled it to 308 x 229 but still 2108 kb in weight.
Comparison. The pic below the lobster is 38 kb (roughly same dimensions)
