Large Photos in VSD - Post ID 7646

I'm building a new site and want to post a small selection of large photographs, typically a half page each.
I've built a couple of other sites with VSD and have found that it doesn't handle photo resolution very well.
If I purchase the photo album program to integrate into the site will it do a better job of displaying large images?
I'd appreciate your opinions!

I'd like to say No as I figure Photo Gallery's more geared toward showing smaller versions in its primary view and clicking on the pics will open up a full-size view. That works fine, but you could do the same by simply linking thumbnails in VSD to the actual pic. Hope that made sense. In any case, I'd definitely download the trial of Photo Gallery and test it out w/ VSD. I haven't had any issues using the two apps together, but I haven't attempted putting large photos on the pages yet.

Thanks Adam!
How would you go about that exactly?
Dedicate a separate page to each of the large pics?
I think I was one of the first users to bitch about the current VSD problems with locking or crashing when trying to upload larger image files, so I don't know if that method would work.

Well, it'd be more manual work, but if you uploaded the files on your own (w/ another FTP app), you could just do the linking inside of VSD. That way, the uploads of the larger files aren't handled by VSD. But again, that's extra work outside of VSD.

There's a VSD 6.0 being tested right now, so we can hope that would help fix any issues in uploading that occurred before (no promises, just hope). ;)

I was in Software Design for years so I have used that "It'll be fixed in the next release" line a lot.

I have added a medium photo (284K JPEG) file to a site that was working and updating fine. Now I get a "You have added a large file blah blah blah" message when I save or preview the site. Plus the preview does not show the revised code, neither on the page with the large photo nor on another page where I only changed text boxes.
I have an inferiority complex - but it is not a very good one.

That's weird. I noticed that the Flash intro kept repeating in a loop. And also on the web site (which I had not updated). So I re-saved and re-previewed the site starting from the HomePage, i.e. skipping the Flash intro, and, lo and behold, it showed the changes I referred to in my previous post.

I guess I am back in the Coffee Cup Twilight Zone again. Or maybe the Flash intro is pointing to an old version of the site. This is where I start to growl and bark and savage a small kitten. When will Coffee Cup software integrate smoothly?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
