Hello everybody!

I just love user forums! Best thing ever to move good software ahead. That said, my problem is a bit of a suprise to me. I'm using VSD, and with all the add-ins (I bought the full load)it's worlds ahead of what I started using - MSPublisher!

Anyhow, I realize that sites can appear different on different browsers and platforms. Fortunately, my business has a dozen machines that I can test the output on. Today I finally published the site to the hosting service and was tickled pink when the site came up looking like it should on Maxthon and IE7. I went to my partner's machine to show him and on his IE7, it still looked good. However, when I went to my secretary's machine to show her, YUK! the fonts were different sized and text boxes overlapped. I don't understand. I'm waiting for a response from Support, but thought I would try the forum.

I am using normal web fonts. Verdana, Arial and Times are the only fonts in my site. My work-around at this time, is to make all the text "Advanced" This, of course, changes the text to images when it uploads. That corrects the problem, but I'd like to know how to fix it.

Thanks

Ed

You can change the default font sizes in IE (View > Text Size) and other browsers. Apparently, your secretary has changed her font size setting. Pages based on absolute positioning tend to fall apart when font sizes are changed.

Thanks Carey, But I tried the View - Font size option and ALL sizes, large and small did the same thing. You mentioned absolute position text, is there any other way to correct this? I just realized that since I did the Advanced text option (thus making my text an image) I lost all the links imbedded in the paragraphs. I'm sure I could cure that with a transparent object on top of it, but this is really headed in the wrong direction.

Any other clues?

Thanks Bruce.

A link to the page in question:

I did discover that on the two machines that displayed the text incorrect, the DPI settings on Display Properties - Advanced tab was not set to normal. Changing that solved the problem, although I would like to know why other sites loaded OK?

For what it's worth, once I fixed the DPI setting, I changed the font size setting several times and the site still displayed correctly now.

I think you answered your own question! the ones that were ok, the settings were normal the 2 were not. is ll I can think of.
If you ever want to check your site in different browsers you can do so here. http://browsershots.org
VSD is pretty good for a WYSIWYG program and usually from this version doesn't really need any tweaking as they say. but soon you'll see a change for the better in version 6.0 do out soon. I am also just a user and can't explain why you had the problem I'm glad you got it fixed. Very nice website.

Thanks Bruce!

Now on to battle the dreaded file download problem in form builder. I appreciate the heads up on a new release. I feel it's a mark of a great software manufacturer who takes the bother to post it's own user forum. It makes the software better and the community strong. I've found a lot of great stuff here in my short time. Looking forward to V6
