Can anyone walk me through adding slider onto a new page on my site. I am having difficulties on how to add Code 1 and 2 onto the VSD page and then downloading onto Free FTP

VSD has been discontinued. You can still use it, but the support for it has also stopped.
If you want a slider on a VSD page, it doesn't have to be responsive, because VSD itself isn't responsive. You can use 'any old' slider.

I haven't used VSD for ages (hardly ever), but I guess you need to use a html element and put certain code bits as head html and some other code (what is supposed to be visible) as body html.

Use an HTML box and paste the proper code to that. Then you paste the needed scripts to the head of your page.
