Re-Sync uploads all data again. If your having issues with uploading, this is a clean way to start over. I just tried changing a theme and vsd uploaded only the images, I moved text around in VSD and still uploaded only the pages. Using 5.9.1

Here is a video of what I was doing:

The first time I ran VSD 5.9 (updating from 5.8.5), VSD uploaded *everything* . I then moved some text around on one page, and tried uploading again, and this last time VSD uploaded only the changes.

You might want to give it a shot again, to see if it's constantly updating everying - or if it's just that first time running the new version (?)

That was very nice of you to do Scott.

Thank you.

I will try it again and let you know if it does it again.

Scott I finally got through mapping all the pictures from the old files to the new 5.9R version, but my slide show and quote form are not showing up yet and I'm not quite sure how to integrate them into my new 5.9 version on my machine before I dump the old site and upload the new 5.9 version.

Since I assume all of the file names are now changed is it going to delete all of the old numbered files off the server and replace them with the new picture filing syste?

And Is my slide show and myform data( HTML and files) going to auto link under 5.9 and syncethat information backwards into my 5.9 VSD on the computer or what?

I'm a little confused as to what i should or shouldn't assume.

I built the original site in VSD 5.1

Win XP SP2 etc.

Site is www.specifiedcomponents.com

See "China slide" show and "get a quote"

The site I've revamped in 5.9 is fundamentally the same but there are now a few more pages and a few changed link in the menu bars.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

There are a lot of things that could be set different, it just depends on how you added everything in. The fastest way to get any of our flash applications re-added in is to click on the element and then click the remove flash button. Then just re-add it back in. Then when you re-sync, everything will update itself.

Version 5.9.2 also has a few new tweaks.

Hi, I am getting ready to install the New VSD version and was wondering if I should say "yes" to removing the former version and it's modules?

Will the sites I've developed in the older versions still work in the new. I know I've done this in the past but I may have missed a version somewhere or I perhaps this version is different.

Please let me know how to proceed. Thanks!

I haven't had any issues with upgrades in the 5.# range of versions. If it were an upgrade from the really old 3.#, there might be bigger issues. The only thing I can think of at the time is, for some reason, in one of the more recent updates, it seemed that the html files weren't be updated in the export folder. That has no real effect unless you manually upload your files with an external FTP program. The quick fix is to delete the project_website export folder afterward, which will be regenerated the next time the site is opened and saved in VSD (only have to do that one time and then it updates fine from then on).

There's been some unsolved mysteries in the some random crashes, and I know they're trying to crack down on some of the causes right now, so there may be a 6.0 in the works. I couldn't say when, but we can cross our fingers and keep our eyes open. ;)

I'm not for sure what you're saying Adam. I manually upload my files using a 'webdisk' and sometimes I use the upload with VSD depending on the site I'm working on.

I have 5.8.5 currently, Adam. If I say 'YES' to the dialogue box popup during installation to 'remove the old version and all its modules (whatever that means) will I still be able to open all my former VSD projects without issues? Will everything still work ok? Will I be able to just continue as always? Does that make sense?

I would appreciate your answer.

You should be fine. I always uninstall VSD before installing the new version, so the "old version and all its modules" have been completely removed and no harm has been done the the projects. It's always good to back up those files though. Worst-case scenario, keep your older installation file for VSD and you can re-install if the newer version causes problems. However, that shouldn't be a problem. I haven't had problems in upgrading, but I seem to be a lucky one. ;)

Hi Everyone,

On this topic, does VSD 5.9 now integrate seamlessly with the HTML editor?

I'm used to working with an integrated editor (e.g. Dreamweaver) that supports switching between the two different views while editing. Cursor position is tracked and changes in one window are reflected in the other.

My main reluctance to use CoffeeCup thus far has been the lack of some kind of integrated toolset. In fact in earlier versions of these programs the VSD wasn't even completely compatible with the HTML editor. Have any of these situations changed in recent months?

Thanks for your time in reading this,
Big Al Mintaka
