yes Scott fresh install, nothing but I didn't try it with just VSD 5.9.2 I did have the rest of CC's programs installed first, with the upgrade from I.E.6 to 7. before I contact you via loggin I will give that a shot. Thanks
(update) With nothing installed but VSD5.9.2 and logmein I get "cannot create catalog".

I am not sure why the .bat file didn't work but what we had to do for Bruce was this:
1. Go to C:\Program Files\CoffeeCup Software\CoffeeCup Visual Site Designer and copy XceedFtp.dll and wodFtpDLX.dll to c:\windows\system32
2. Open a command prompt
3. type regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wodFtpDLX.dll
4. type regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\XceedFtp.dll
Then we restarted VSD and everything worked.

Hi Scott, I tried the fix and perhaps I didn't do it right. Still VSD shuts down when I try to upload. The site is http://www.uuchesterriver.org. I also sent you an email so that if you have time if you could perform the fix on my pc. Thank you. Sarah

Sarah he got it working for me, it wasn't reading the DLL's right I guess so I'm sure he'll get ya going.
