Hi there if anyone could help me with this problem I'd really appreciate it.

I emailed the software support team and hopefully they will reply soon but while waiting for them to read my email I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me sooner.

So my problem started at 9 am :( I tried uploading the webpages that I created using the VSD and I keep getting the error during upload then i used the trial version of CC Direct FTP I was able to upload most of the file but i got another error again. I checked the website and I was surprised to see all the images missing and only text was there. What happened to my images???? if you don't mind having a look at www.australianacorner.com.au

Last week I uploaded the same files to a different domain name but the same host. have a look at www.australianacorner.net everything is there after a few error messages i finally got a message saying the upload was successful.

But today i have been trying to figure out for the last 10 hours what is wrong with my files. Everytime i tried to upload or re-sync i get an error on different images . I assume the problem is not my file since i was able to upload it all last week and I haven't made any changes to it.

This website is for a client and she wants a .com.au website if it was mine I wouldn't worry so much since the .net website is ok and just fix the .com.au later but its not mine and I am on a deadline here. I really need help please!!!

I am happy with VSD since its so much easier to use than Dreamweaver CS3. Except for the error part which I have to stay around and watch so i know where the error is that took a long time :(

Hope to hear from someone soon.

Cheers,

Junie

Hi, a couple things to try would either be another ftp client like filezilla just to test the uploading http://filezilla-project.org/ or maybe consider making your images single names (one word names) some hosts don't like spaces so maybe it's catching up yo you now. whenever this has happened to me, I would open vsd and minimize it, then open my website folder and remove the image or whatever was hanging up the upload, then go back to vsd and click on save , and re-try to upload. worked for me a couple times, and have had no problems since.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the reply.I'm very new at all this so I'm not that confident at removing and renaming files. I'm afraid something else will go wrong.

Re: removing the images that cause the hang ups that means I have to remove all the all the images :( since every time I try uploading its a different image everytime. I tried renaming them making them single word names as you suggested but I'm still getting the errors. And also when I opened the website files to make the changes I noticed that there are 3 copies of every image in the folder. Is this supposed to happen? I deleted the copies but now Im thinking i did the wrong thing.

If i try to upload using using the filezilla should I delete all the files thats already in my host so it doesn't double up?

I'd really appreciate the help...thanks

Hi Junie,
I wouldn't delete anything just upload over what you have ,Filezilla will ask if you wish to overwrite just select yes. If you have alot of images then yes do not remove them by all means, I thought you meant 1 image with each upload attempt. Sorry. I do have a question, when you add an image do you also add that image using the add files wizard? Thanks.

Hi Junie,
I've just been through the same thing and I think I'm getting on the right track at last.

Firstly you need to understand how VSD uploads.
Pages first (in the order they were created)
Then images
Then other files.

If there is an error uploading then VSD just stops where it is up to. ie. No images thereafter will upload.

The following info is what I've found works after reading everybody elses solutions and trialling my own ideas.

On my website I:
-have all images named without spaces
-all images centralized (in one folder)

After making all the necessary changes:

1. Save as - I save the webpage as a new name so that I don't have any doubling up of files, etc.

2. I close VSD and then reopen it (opening this new vnu file).

3. I upload without watching (expecting the error message will be there when I get back).

4. I have noted in which order I created pages. By clicking through my actual website I work out which page the first error occurred (it's quicker than watching the upload).

5. I have found that it is not the images themselves that are causing the issue, but how close the images are on the page. I'll go to the error page in VSD and move the images slightly further apart- and save. Then re-sync.

I noticed that you're from Australia.
If you like you can call me. Visit my website and go to the contact page and I'll try to work through it with you if you like until you hear from coffeecup.

I know how frustrating it is.

I hope this helps!

Hi Bruce,

I uploaded using Filezilla and it said Transfer was successful..I checked the website and all I got was an index page and not my website. :( so then i thought VSD might work now that all files are there, but nope the website is now just my black background and the text I have in there and no images.
When I add an image i use the picture tool and i remember adding the whole folder to the root directory when i finished the website last week. I asked Billr about favicons and that was when i used the add files wizard, so my favicons would work.
Am I confusing you? sorry If I am, I am so confused as well with all this...It worked with the other domain name, why won't it work again? I just don't get it.

Help Please!!!

I couldn't wait for the support team to reply to my email so I recreated the website I'm working on, at first just to see if it will upload and when it did I just kept going until all pages are done and managed to upload and publish successfully.

Heres what I did hopefully It might help someone else:

1. I opened VSD and start new website - minimize
2. Then open VSD again (so i ended up having 2 VSD opened)and open the previous website i finished
3. Go to the first page then select all/copy switch to the other VSD then paste to the new website.
4. I Saved the page then I click on upload - did this for every page as I finish one page I save then upload. I got an error everytime I click on Re-sync so i just click uploaded and it worked, just had to make the links work and insert any HTML codes again and thats it.. My website is published.....

Thank you Bruce...
Thank you Sharon and It was lovely speaking to you..
