When I create a preview of my web site in VSD, an ffdshow dialog box always appears when I visit my home page (or at least the first time I visit it). I think it has something to do with the fact that a short audio file starts to play whenever anyone visits my home page. (I've added an html object to accomplish this.) But why does this ffdshow dialog box appear and what am I supposed to do with it? I've uploaded an image of it for reference.

Sorry, but my image didn't load for some reason. Let me try that again.
I believe it is a CC program that accompanies their audio/video software to help it play/stream. Not 100% positive on that though.

What audio/video software? I don't have any of their software except for VSD. And which button am I supposed to click on?
Tom,
ffdshow is not a CC program and has nothing to do with CC.
It is some kind of general purpose decoder for audio and/or video files. The audio routine/program you're using for the initial auto-play (not a CC program, if I understand you right?) must be calling ffdshow and that program is not known to ffdshow, thus the dialog box with the questions.
I had never seen the dialog box myself.

I know that when you download video based CC software ffdshow also downloads and asks to be installed. So if it is not part of CC, then why is it also installed along with the software. I wonder if CC knows about this then.

Does this mean it is through windows?

It seems pretty fundamental to decoding video, but it's open source so I'm unsure whether it came with Windows. It could be something installed as part of CC software, just like swfobject.js is the basis for their Flash displays. At any rate here is a guide on what it is, and how to install/configure it in case that helps track down where the error is occurring.

If it is, in fact, a codec installed as part of CC video software this might be a good time for a trouble ticket to their tech people.

I read that article on Wikipedia, but it confused me more than anything because it's so technical. All I'm doing on my home page is playing a one minute mp3 file of some sheep bleating. So, I don't know why ffdshow would have to be called for something so basic. Here's the code that I put into my HTML object in VSD:
<bgsound src="39947__acclivity__SheepAndLambs_edited2_64k.mp3" loop="1"></bgsound>
So, I would think it has to be VSD that's putting in a call to ffdshow when it produces the html file for my home page.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
