Again, when I first set these QR codes up- I could scan them and the PDF would open automatically. Now when I scan it I get the url address. (I have attached a screenshot) Then I have to click search, and then I am prompted to use the PDF viewer, click that and then the file opens. Something has changed, and I'm not sure what. I have not changed anything in direct FTP and I am using the same QR scanner.

Does your QR scanner get software updates?
What brand and model is it?

The QR scanner that I personally use- is just a free app in the Google Store. It has no recent updates. Screenshot attached.

Every QR canner code I use yields the same results.

Vikki, I wonder if you could describe exactly what you do when you want to view your pdf document.

I understand that you have uploaded something (an image?) with the QR code to your S-drive using DFTP. But then? You seem to think that the QR code or the actual document is IN the DFTP. They are NOT. You can of course log into S-drive with DFTP and SEE the files, but to ACCESS them, and read the pdf document, you need to open your browser and navigate to the URL of your S-drive.

I've been trying to tell you that DFTP is only the means of transport, from your computer to the destination, in this case, the S-drive. As soon as the files have reached their destination, the job of DFTP is done and completed. Imagine DFTP is a bus and the files are passengers. Once they reach their destination, they hop off the bus.

No- it is not an image. It is a PDF document that has been uploaded to DFTP.

I'm not understanding what you are saying- When I look at the S-drive, my files are there with a url address. The QR code was created using the url address. Again- after scanning (with a QR reader) the QR code, the PDF document at that url address would automatically open. Now, I am presented with the url address and I have to search for it and then open it (image attached). They haven't gone anywhere. Is it not the purpose to upload files for others to view or download? Why would they "hop off the bus"?

The app seems to be setup the way it's working for you as I see other users reporting the same thing. It's the app your using. The fact that I can scan it with my Iphone supports this.

This is a different one, but they probably work the same. There may be one that works correctly for you.
Here's the one your using.

I have zilch experience with QR codes, hence my not knowing that it is the same document as the pdf. But I have 16 years of experience with DFTP. You haven't uploaded your document TO DFTP, but by means of DFTP. And for the visitors to your site, if they want to read the document, they have to open their browser and navigate to the correct URL to find it. Otherwise, you would have to leave your user name and password to DFTP in the public domain for everyone to use it. And I'm sure you wouldn't want to do that.

With your DFTP open, you have a mirror of what is in a certain folder on your computer (to the left), and a mirror of what is at the destination folder on the web to the right. You can see that your file is there, and if necessary, you can move it to a different place, delete it or download it. But DFTP is not holding your file after it has 'left the bus'.

The comparison with a bus may have been a bit far fetched, but it was just an attempt to try to make you understand that the files have nothing more to do with DFTP after they have been uploaded.
