Unless this option already exists and I can't find it, can we have a windows explorer style view for local and remote views? What I mean is, two windows each for the local and remote views. This makes navigating folders so much easier than to have to open each one in the same window.

Unless I missed it, when I submitted a file to upload, I did not see a visual acknowledgement that the upload request was accepted by the program. So of course I submitted it again and again.
Once I figured out I needed to open the external window to see the loading activity I then had to delete the extra requests.
Some sort of visual acknowledgement that the upload was accepted would be great.

This popup activity window needs to be permanently embedded somewhere. Popups are not very friendly to those in a multi-monitor environment.

Now that I'm keeping most of my data on network storage (specifically a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo) I find DirectFTP pretty useless because it will not allow me to browse to the NAS as a source for uploading to my websites.

Please fix DirectFTP to allow browsing to the local network RAID server via a path like so...

\\foo\bar\

...to make that possible.

TABBED REMOTE SERVERS!

I have tried DirectFTP over WS_ftp and WS_ftp is what i use for two basic obvious points:
1- Speed
2- Tabbed remote connections.

Now, I could live with the speed issue but, without the ability to tab between 10 or so remote servers, DirectFTP is useless to me.

Please make DirectFTP tabbed so it can be used by real world webmasters that manage many sites.
Wanna one up WS_FTP? When remote tab is selected, allow an option to change to the assigned local directory that is assigned to that server connection. ;) That would be awesome.

Maybe also more detail in active transfer transaction, eg collapsible structure like WS_ftp would be nice.
After owning, promoting and the using the Coffee Cup Editor faithfully and daily for well over a decade, and other products here, I am now being charged for an upgrade?
I will never pay for an upgrade when I was told (and the ad copy blasted) that I would never have to pay again for updates.

When there was issues with the software, I hung in there while using another editor until it was fixed.
Why? Because I had hundreds of custom Perl snippets, servers, browsers, the toolbar, layout / highlighting and other time savers already configged in CC for my daily routine.
Now, I am forced to the last free upgraded version which, I am now forced to phase out of my toolbox.
From a standpoint of even basic principles here, major fail.

I was promised free lifetime upgrades from day one, PERIOD. GOODBYE.

>Since your last order was in 2005, you got almost a decade of free updates. That is still not a bad deal. We understand change is not always easy but we find this >is a very reasonable request. We could have simply discontinued the Editor and then charged you full price but went with a low upgrade fee. Access to files on a local server - I don't think this is possible now. If it is - please let me know.

I just had a forum conversation with Eric Rohloff about this. My FreeDirectFTP sees files on my hard drive, but when to go to the local server, where my website files are housed, only the folders appear.

Can this be addressed? The program looks great to me aside from the inability to get to my files.

- Thanks

Hiya Mike,

I would suggest you put in a support ticket to see if the dev team can help you with this because you "should" see your files as well as your folders locally. I see all my files except for things like .htaccess files locally which I would myself like to be able to see, but everything else I see just fine. Good luck on it and do come back and let us know if/when it's fixed and what the problem was for future users if you would please :)

I was using the free FTP from CC for months before I bought the large CC software bundle. So after buying the bundle I downloaded and installed the FTP I had purchased. The Free one was connecting to the server almost instantly and then transferring files and images rapidly and multiply and giving indications of successful transfers and I was very happy with it. Now that I am working with the purchased FTP it takes about 10 attempts to get connected to the server it keeps timing out and after maybe 5 to 8 minutes I get connected and then each individual item is difficult like getting to the file you want on the server side they keep timing out and it is the situation as of logging on all over again to get to the folder you want If I remain persistent and patient and keep trying eventually it will get the job done but it is very exasperating. Does it have to do with the security side entries I made with the software bundle maybe the difficulties have something to do with it trying to be secure?
