Questions about how dynamic form...

Hello,
I'm considering buying form designer rather than making my own forms, for a couple of specific projects.
I need to know a few things about how 'dynamic' form designer is, or can be.

1. Can the options in a drop down be gathered from a database query?
2. Can the output of numerous drop down choices, and manually entered data, be submitted into a database as a query?
3. Can the forms themselves, and the number of forms generated on a page, be dynamically generated based upon the number of results from a database query?

Thank you in advance for the responses!

Hi Again, Christopher,

If you buy Form Designer, you will get a design tool with which you can make stunning looking forms - but they won't work. That is because Form Designer doesn't have the 'back-end' script to make it work. What you need to do is getting the Web Form Builder as well, to make those scripts. There is a tutorial in the CC knowledge base explaining how to do it. Recently I read something that Form Designer also will work with Google forms, but I haven't seen that completed yet.

There are other forum users who will know more about this, and especially know the answers to your questions. Wait for someone like Eric to butt in...

Hey again Inger!

Google forms with FD looks to be a URL hacking method. This is cool for sure, but in this case, I need to handle all the back-end stuff on my own infrastructure.

In theory, I could write a function page that accepts similar inputs (a data-filled URL), and then creates a query based upon that URL, then I could 'hack' the google forms integration of FD...hmmm.

That sounds like I could make it work, but I think I'd prefer a more built-in and direct approach.

In short, FD will not do the things you asked about because it will not connect to your database. It is for designing the form.

On the other hand, FD will create a fantastic-looking form for you. Once you export, you will have the complete html code for the forms. At that point, you can use your own database programming to customize the html.

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.
