Hi Guys,

Ok, I am a new convert to the coffee cup software after trying several other brands of web building software. And I must say at first look I am very impressed. I find working with images much better than working with code.

I have a plan to work like this:

1. Look at what content and images my sites will need, mind map my design and images.
2. Use colour schemer to get the colour scheme decided from the design and images collected for the site.
3. Save the colour scheme as a css file and import it to style sheet. Save the css in style sheet.
4. Import the css file in to visual site designer and build the site.
5. Once the site is completed to satisafaction then import all the site files in to HTML2008 so the site can be saved as HTML files to enable easy export of the site.

Obviously I would use the other coffeecup software to enhance images, fonts add flash etc where needed.


Now, this seems perfect software to work this way and breaks things down in to smaller chunks for me.

My question really is this though. Am I dreaming in thinking that this way of working would work?

Any comments and suggestions welcome and appreciated.

I too am a newbie to this software. I purchased HTML Editor 2008 and have found that working on the Visual portion exclusively makes some things kinda quirky and it adds Inline CSS, which isnt the greatest thing. So I would suggest using the code editor more and and use the Visual part as more of a guide. External CSS and the Code Editor is working awesome for me so far and Im a newbie to the whole web design. Good luck man! And congrats on a good software choice.

If I build the site using the visual editor and then export it to the HTML code editor will this remove the 'quirky' elements or enable me to remove them relatively easily?

glad you are finding the software so good. Been playing around with dreamweavwer for years now but you really need to study it to get the best out of it.

The reason I like this software so much is that I can import any template images and build the site around the original template design. Makes things so much easier than having to pick the templates for each different type of software.

So, If I can stick to the original plan i had and sort out the quirky elements using the HTML editor then this will make life soooo much easier. fingers crossed

I was an user of Dreamweaver but since I start working for my wife business website I feel the need o purchasing one license. Dreamweaver of out of question due the price. Coffee Cup HTML Editor was the choice and I'm very happy with my choice but I only work Code Editor and Preview, it is very rare the use of Visual Editor and probably because make some chance I do not understand. I really prefer the Code Editor.
Today I manage 3 websites all of them are 100% CoffeeCup generated and I'm very proud of it and of them:

Mess around and make a practice page using only visual mode and then look at the code editor to see what kind of code it produced. For me, the code was too much and thats why I streamlined it with an external CSS and is going good so far. If you dont mind the extra code bloat, then keep using it. Its great also. But in todays world of best web practices, I knew I could streamline it with external CSS.
