Keep HTML Alone in HTML Editor 2007 -...
Is there a option that I'm missing to leave the HTML/CODE alone when switching to the Visual Editor. I have "include tags" for the header / footer and everytime i open the page in Visual Editor it will place the default html tags on top and bottom breaking the page.
Thanks in advanced.

Unfortunately no. When you switch to the visual editor, it converts all the html code to absolute positioning.

The HTML editor does have a split screen display that won't change your code. Not quite as convenient, but it may help. F12 on the keyboard I believe is the shortcut key to turn it on and off.
This only works if you stay in the code mode for editing.

www.mainsites.ca is my website, and yes, some of it is crappy.

And you can edit the pages in that split screen? I'm just trying to find a solution for my customers. Once we finish the layout and design, my clients just want to update pages themselves and want something simple and affordable, unlike Dreamweaver or Frontpage/Expression Web. But it needs to work around our files.

Keith,
The split screen gives you the code editor where you do all your work, and the view of what the page will look like. The view screen is just for viewing, and as far as I can tell does not let you edit

Bill is correct, sorry if I mislead.
About the only tool I know that is that easy to use is the CoffeeCup Visual Site Designer. It has no "code mode", but you are able to import blocks of HTML code if you need to.
The program works in a Visual mode, so it's click and drag. It creates it's own kind of file, which generates pages for the web when you upload.
The website needs to be created with this program in order for the program to be able to edit the site. If the website is created using a different program, or coded by hand, you will not be able to edit the site using Visual Site Designer.
Not the same as coding your own pages, but maybe worth a look. I believe you can get a 15 day free trial to check it out and see if it's what you need.
The other option is to go with a Content Management System (cms) like joomla, Mambo or PHP WebSite (there are many more). Some are open source (free) and available with from many web hosting services.

I don't know whether it will solve the original problem or not, but I have an omnibus website at http://www.memoirista.com/ with a static HTML front page, two blogs
reviews.memoirista.com/ and
process.memoirista.com
as well as a wiki,
wiki.memoirista.com/
and a static Amazon books page.
In addition, the blogs have Amazon stores embedded in them.
Unfortunately the website is much neglected. It started out with a Google PageRank of 3 or 4, and has slipped to a 1, because there is so little activity on my part or anyone else's.
Still, it's a complex model that would allow your clients to update, via blogs, to discuss, via wiki, and to sell if you have dynamic selling software.
