Hahahaha,, I'll write something just for you David. About putting all of my site in the new editor, of course that's what I'm after. But think....if I did that today no one who comes to my site, and people do, would be able to see anything. That's why I'm trying with one and now two pages. But, you think maybe I have two sets of folders up "there"?

I'm going to go check the other coffee cup spot now. Maybe Orlando......

Thanks, Canary

When I see folders like images and my jukebox files in the root directory it makes me think some of your site is located outside of publicly accessible folders.

generally a site is set up with a tree structure like;

ROOT
web [folder]
-- all your html files
-- image [folder]
-- all other relevant folders

Sometimes the web folder is called www or public_html depending on how your host provider configured their end.

Specifically, when I have to develop a site while another one is online, I create folder called dev and put all the new stuff under that folder, then the existing site is left alone and when complete, I can swap out the old for the new.

Preferably; though, I use WAMP a suite of software that will create a server on my computer and I can play to my hearts content without screwing up the existing site.

Web Designer rag......why not?

Yes, I'm back. One problem is solved, quite by accident, the program throws up the word image/ with the picture name.jpg On the Review page when I got rid of image in front of the names it all worked. All the pictures where there.

So I went to index and pulled out the image/ before the picture name and nothing happened. I've been working on this for hours and hours, have considered farming out my website and decided I'd rather fight thru right here. I LOVE doing jt...when it works

Someone said I had too many folders on my server. So I went to my Hosting people and asked if I could be condensed down into one or two. The answer was silence, as they always do when them mean no.

Someone said I should be using only the /web folder, so I've been doing that. I looked and looked to see if my present index picture was in some folder, and it is, but it still doesn't show.

Please, will one of you kind souls go look at my index, my front door to my website www.seabirdstudio.com to see if you can see anything

And will someone go look at my many folders on my server and see what's up with that?

I am attaching a great picture for you (I tried to do a mp3, but it wouldn't take it)

Is is possible i could get you to start fresh with a current version of the HTML editor so when we refer to tools or features we know you have them and am not sending you off aon a bum's chase for things.

Did you have a chance to look at the sample code I tossed up on my sDrive? http://www.tbaygeek.org/test/index.html

there is comments and such in the code.

Thanks

Bird, the home page image isn't showing (coffee with dog and dock.jpg). You should get rid of the spaces in image names: coffee_on_dock.jpg for example. Put dashes in place of spaces. Use the alt="" to include a description: alt="photo; having coffee on the dock w the dog".

It looks like you're way overdue for an update to your HTML Editor – 2006 :o
I doubt a hosting company would get involved in your folder/file structure. But you should be able to go to your control panel and add/delete/move things as needed. If it's gotten out of control, you could pull the site down, reorganize everything on your computer and then do a nice clean upload. (Direct FTP to the rescue!)

Also, you could use a simple unordered list for your menu. Add some CSS to style it (and your pages in general) instead of all those spacer gifs. ;)

Edit, Tom, your post came up while I was typing this – just had a look. Very nice!

Bird, can you provide the link to the image you want to place on the home page? I have tried every possible combination that I can think of to get it to show and it does not work.

Is it possible the image is not uploaded to your server?

Secondly, if you can not find the link to the image. Take a screenshot of your ftp folder that has the image in it and load it here so that we may give you that link.

Hope this helps.
