File name length in RCS - Post ID 275076
We've had problems exporting RCS sliders to insert into our RSD site. The sliders work fine in RCS, but when exported to RSD, the sliders work but some of the images don't appear.
We've gone back and looked at the exported RCS files and not all images are automatically exporting into the image folders. Manually moving them in brings up a warning that the file names are too long. What is the maximum length for the image names and the slider files themselves and are there are other naming conventions we should be aware of?
Thanks

Hi Parky,
I'm not sure what the exact max length is but why would you want to use such long file names? I would shorten the image names before you bring them into RCS and use the Alt tag area to be descriptive for SEO purposes.
To avoid conflicts and confusion I try to name my RCS project with a different name then my RSD.
Also when I add my RCS to RSD I do not add my images to the RSD resources. I just add the header info and the html code to the RSD project and upload the files for my slider separately. The reason I do this is so i don't have to keep re-adding them to the RSD project every time I make an edit to my slider.
Hope this helps

And, of course don't make spaces in file names. A file name like e.g. 'my cat playing.jpg' Should be either 'mycatplaying.jpg' or 'my-cat-playing.jpg'. Underscores between the words can also be used ('my_cat_playing.jpg')

Thanks for this. Our file names were long mainly for SEO and copyright proposes, but if we can use the Alt tag that would be great.
So, are we talking about the 'Alt' box under the 'Picture' box in the Design pane in RCS? And is this the same thing in RCD?
Thanks
