What is the best way to have a heading at the top of the page after the navigation. I have tried different methods but don't know if their is an easy way.

1 row 12 span align text to centre. Problem is if you add background colour it spans the 12 span width. Display block

2. Row 12 span but pad heading to centre. Difficult to line up exactly display inline block

3. 3 columns of 4 spans. Add header to middle column. Beauty here is background colour only extends one column

Is the a better way. In the above the head

If the background color is what's giving you issues, use a container so you can control more where the background is, so create your 12 span column, add a container to that column and put your H1 inside the container. Color either the column or container the color you're looking for, and also, don't forget you have a row to play with for color as well

Jo Ann once again thank you. Before I used RLM I used to throw everything inside containers. It must be an age thing. I get bamboozled with the new technology and forget the basics..

While I'm in stupid mode can I ask what you would use the sub grid element for. I say this as if designing was the only way to make money, I would starve,

One of the biggest reasons I use them for control (as Eric has said already) is to create a side column. I first create 2 or 3 columns to start with, then I put a subgrid inside the column that I want to hold the main content. This allows the left and/or right columns to contain their own content and stretch lengthwise without affecting the other columns. Great way to add vertical menus and such.
