I started to try out the s-drive gizmo....all I can say is that I am terribly in a daze. I have no idea what I was doing. What, specifically, is it and why should I be interested. What does it accomplish. And why can't I understand how to create it. After all, I am no Einstein...but I am a Lloyd.

S-Drive
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I am unable to provide feedback as I don't have Visual Designer which is required to publish data.
I don't wish to purchase the software and therefore can not give more info.
However if the software is provided free I may be able to supply feedback.
...far away "down under", but not out of sight

This supports S-Drive
http://www.coffeecup.com/direct-ftp/

and VSD does have a free trial.:)

I agree Lloyd. I've been reading the info on the S-Drive and didn't see anything that said "this only works with websites built with CoffeeCup VSD", though from some of the comments I believe this is the case.

As I don't use VSD, I can't see that it's terribly useful... but then I'm not an Einstein either.

You can connect to S-Drive with Visual Site Designer, Direct FTP, Free FTP and Shopping Cart Creator. If you have a website built with another web editor, simply use Direct FTP or Free FTP to publish it to S-Drive.

Pretty spiffy right? :)

Ok, if it you can connect with FTP where do I find the User/Password info for the FTP program? I don't find any of that info in the Dashboard settings or anywhere else.

If I have a website built with another editor (which I do) and can publish it to S-Drive, then I can see using it. If the site can be updated by other users, then I can see it being "pretty spiffy". At this point though, I'm just confused about what makes it different than one of the 40 sub-domains I already have.

Your S-Drive account information is your same as your CoffeeCup account credentials (what you use to download your updates and log into here with).

Didn't work. Says it can't connect, times out, etc.
My site is http://arealwebsite.coffeecup.com What is the server name? http://site.address? ftp://site.address? site.address? (I've tried them all) Port number? Local folder? I know you're trying to keep it simple, but I'm beginning to think the Easter Egg Hunt is easier to figure out than this. At least with it you give hints. Some ftp instructions on the Settings page would be extremely helpful.

You are trying to configure S-Drive as an FTP account. There is a feature in Direct FTP/Free FTP just for connecting to S-Drive. Click the Black Gear Icon (not the green +) and then enter in your CoffeeCup account information. On the servers dialog you will also see instructions for this and mouse- overs to help you along as well. It is all in there. ;)
