Hi,

Just bought the SCD pro version hoping to be able to modify my existing store (made in SCC). I can see it is not possible to import this shop into SCD Pro.
Do I understand it wrong?

Or do you need to use both programs next to each other. Like SCD pro modifies the template and SCC uses the template to make the shop.

Could you let me know?

Hiya Harald,

The only thing you do with SCD is design themes for SCC and SCC Pro (when it's released). It doesn't modify your store in any way just the themes.

Having said that, I'm going to guess you're trying to alter the current theme in your SCC? If it's a theme that was already created (meaning it's not altered by you in some way) it should already be included in the SCD list of themes that you can then alter to your liking and save as a new theme.

If you've altered the theme you're using and have done so using code outside of the programs, there is then no way to port that back into SCD that I'm aware of at all.

Basically the idea is you create/edit your themes for SCC in the designer, then export them, then you can change your theme in SCC to that theme. You don't need both programs open at the same time to just design or alter themes. The only time you need SCC open is to choose the them, and to upload the shop so that the new theme shows up online too.

SCD is the tool that you will use to make your shop pretty. SCC is the tool that you will use to fill the shop up.

I did actually expect a fusion between SCC and SCD, because then I see immediately the impact on my webshop, now it's waiting how it looks like in the actual store.

It's not too bad though Harald, when you're designing a theme or editing one, you get a pretty good idea when you're in the Designer how that theme will look in your shop. the only things you won't see are any specific items you have in your own shop as all the things in the Designer are just generic for you to see what it will look like. But everything else will show up on your shop pretty much exactly how you see it in the Designer. There's really not much guesswork needed, and I don't think I had anything come out differently on my shop than it was in the Designer.

After you get the main setup done and uploaded, you'll be able to tweak anything that might need tweaking such as moving margins if needed for your products, but even that can all be done right in the Designer without much needed after uploading.

The only things I had to adjust mine for was because I created external pages in HTML to match my shop, so I had to tweak here and there to get the Headers, menus etc. to line up closer. They aren't perfect right now, but that's ok lol. I got tired of messing with it and figure after Xmas I'll tweak it to be better

Since the Designer is Visual there's no need to see what it looks like in your actual shop to know what it will look like uploaded. Unlike many Visual editors that show sometimes different when uploaded, I can say without a doubt that the SCD has probably the best overall performance of WYSIWYG that actually shows you the same as you see in the program when uploaded. Quite a welcome and refreshing change from many of the visual designers I've tried in the past
