Hi all and thanks in advance for your help.

I have taken on a site which is run on a custom cms, completely custom from the looks of it so not easy to find references on how to use it either!

Shopping cart creator pro has been used to create the e-commerce shop on the site. The sites owner used the software on his old laptop, which unfortunately has now broken. All of the data on the laptop including the installation of the software and its associated backup files have been lost.

My question is, now that I have downloaded the software on to my own computer, how can I retrieve the existing files on the site so that I can continue to edit them.

I already have a backup of the /shop directory on my computer ( and in fact a backup of the entire file structure of the site). However when I go to to open an existing shop from within SCDP the file type is a .scc file.

I s this what I need to open the sites contents again, and if so, where would I find this.

Thanks again for any help you can offer!

EDIT: I seem to have managed now to get the basic structure of the website downloaded from a file called project files, which I am not sure is a standard file name with this software or something the previous person made up. However, the basic theme and images are not included with the scc file I have opened. I know where the images are store on the site, in the ccdata folder, but how do I now get them to open with the products on my computer?

I have the images saved in the folder structure on my computer e.g new shop files/ images along the categories .xml files etc.

Is there any way now to link the products with their images?

Hiya Tony,

Is the folder that the program creates when it saves the shop (not the uploaded shop files themselves, but the actual saved folder for when you edit the shop) uploaded to the site? To open the shop correctly you'll need both the .scc file and the folder that has the name of the shop in it with an underscore ( _ ) in it. If that folder is not uploaded then unfortunately you will need to redo the image links again as well as the theme if they don't have the actual theme file saved online also. In order for the theme to be correctly setup you need the file that SCD created that was exported to SCC to use.

Very sorry to hear they lost that all, but at the same time I'll hope they learned a very drastic lesson. Backup your site, especially a shop, to more than one location (be it uploaded to a safe place or on another hard drive outside the main computer). I do hope you'll be able to reconstruct it without a whole lot of work, but you have half the battle already with the .scc file and that's all the details of the products so that's the most horrendous part to have to redo from scratch. Good luck on it!

Hiya Jo Ann!

Firstly thanks so much for the very prompt reply, your help is much appreciated!

I fear you are right. This is my first time using the software and I can quite clearly see that the links are not there in the only files he has saved as a backup on the webserver. What a shoddy job!

At least I have the images from the existing site and can check their links and tie them up again.
Once again Jo thanks very much for your help.

Yeah Bert, that helps a bit, but unfortunately if they didn't upload the actual saved files for editing the shop to start with, then what is on the backup won't help either. The shop will be there, but not editable, pretty much as it is now. I'm going to take a wild guess that they didn't upload the folder that the program needs and unfortunately that's the folder that keeps all the information for images in it as well as all the image locations setup etc.

You're quite welcome though Tony, I wish it had been better news I could give you though :/
