I'd like to use the output of Shopping Cart Creator / Designer Pro as a shopping cart layout which accesses product data stored in a mysql database. I get the impression that Shopping Cart creator expects me to enter specific product information hence my question. Thanks.

Is there a way to load categories into Shopping Cart Pro? I have hundreds over and above hundreds of thousands of products which I wish to access from a MySQL database. Thanks.

Hey Phil,
You could dump your MySQL database into a .csv file but the formatting must be correct for SCCPro to read it and employ it properly in populating your shop with products.
There is a tutorial in the support area which shows you how to format the .csv file and you can use the command line tool mysqldump to configure how the data will be dumped to the .csv file.
Then you can create your store based on a template and use SCDPro to tweak the layout of the theme.
If you need any more specific help, the best thing would be to open a support ticket and ask a CC support person to advise you further.

Sorry Phil, I meant to include the link to the tutorial with the .csv format rules and it even includes an example .csv file: http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/importing-a-csv-file-into-shopping-cart-creator-pro/

Hi! Just purchased the Shopping Cart Creator Pro. I specifically purchased it to use the importing of my csv file into my website. I already have a website but have a "shop" hosted on a different server and want my products on my website where I have 100% control of them. I have a shop on a major shopping venue which has a csv export feature. I downloaded the file into a microsoft spreadsheet and also one into Open Office. Neither one is uploading to my shopping cart.
I read the tutorial but do not understand any of it. Tried to put what is at the top for using in the 1st line and it didn't do anything.
To put it simply - I am totally LOST!
Thanks for any - layman's simple - help.

The best thing to do is to setup a shop and add one product to it the way you want and export this shop to csv. Now open this csv and add the rest of you products based on what the first one looks like. Saves a lot of format issues.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Do keep in mind as this article states:

There is a 300 category and 3000 product limit in the program so use them wisely

I need to export my product data to .csv file. What type of file should I be looking for on my computer to do that with? When I run a search for files related to my store I get a variety of files, but I don't know what I am looking for. (I did this several months ago but old age has fried my memory!)
thanks.
thanks.

When you go to the File Menu > Export to CSV, you will give it a name that you want to export to. The file extension will be CSV.
