Is there a way to assign a point system that would work off the purchase price for each person making a purchase? These points would accumulate and eventually could be used to buy something on the site using the reward points.

One hurdle I see is the need for a user registration.

There is no such option in the SCCP. And unfortunately I don't think Coffeecup plans on making any changes to the shopping cart as we see it today. I do hear rumors of a brand new piece of software for shopping carts coming out in the future. It's supposed to have all sorts of goodies like coupon codes, responsive designs and much more. But I doubt it will be released any time soon. But keep checking back who knows how long it will be.
