i am a web designer who will be purchasing lisence after lisence of Shopping Cart Creator Pro when it is released and yes, i have customers knocking on more door asking when i can start setting up their webshop. I understand we all just have to be patient which is all we can do, but my flustration is 2 fold:
1. I think coffeecup should have just not said anything about the release of shopping cart pro until they had an acheivable timescale to produce, test and market the goods, it seems that as soon as the idea of the the pro version was first thought of, it was out there, and...
2. I think coffeecup are a great little team and produce some cracking little programs, but, i have felt it hightly flustrating and unprofessional how i personally have been given 2 release dates, the first back in March, and all you seem to get from the staff is "soon", i understand coffeecup is comparitively a small business, but they don't have to think small, just be professional and honest and stop with the "soon" comments, even if the date of release would relistically be Christmas, this should be given, rather than every other day... "soon", at least then customers alike can put it intheir diary and stop speculating everyday about a release date.
C'mon Scott, give us an expectant release date, an not "soon"...

It's what I'm saying Will. English is not my language and some time I don´t explain correctly.
Nobody likes the situation included CoffeeCup.
And you said a point
I think the Pro release was enough and trying building the basic and pro created a lot of noise.
... the delayed release has cost people money, but that has included Coffeecup themselves of course,...

....it does make me wonder why folks bought a 'minivan' in the first place, if what they needed was a 'mid range van or a truck'?

I as a designer, like the program and look forward to the more advance one. I often get clients who want to update their own website carts without having to go through a programmer. I create a template for them and get it all ready for the shopping cart creator. They purchase the program, upload my theme modifications and are off an running. They love it. I have done websites carts in just plain html/paypal, mysql driven database/php, and coffeecup software. It just depends on the customer needs.
If I have someone who wants to update online where ever they go, or need me on occasion to add their products, then I do database/php.
If they don't want to touch anything and only use paypal, then simple html site works great for me.
If they want to be more independent, add their own products, and possibly put a page or two up, then coffeecup is a great solution. One of the reason I am stirring more of these type of clients this direction. Yes it does cut down on some request for me to add a page here or there. But I get happier customers and more referrals on how cool it is.
I like to see these two things happen with the cart, if they did I could really stir some more customers this direction:
1. A shipping feature to allow users to connect to ups/usps for live shipping quotes.
2. Adding custom fields (even if it just mails out an email separate from the order)

This has been a tough wait. My website is a mess and barely functional. However, I can't do much without a cart program and it has to be the pro version. I have to have subcategories and inventory control.
I have seen out-of-pocket costs. When the second or third "soon" was announced, I busted tail and set up a merchant credit card account. It took 6 weeks to get it done. I can't send it live until SCC Pro is released because my current fouled up website won't integrate with the gateway. No, the SCC Basic won't "do" for me until Pro is released.
My cost to let the account sit idle is $60 per month. So, the SCC Pro program will be about $700 to me by the time it is released.
Yeah, I know it is my problem and my decision. Just want to remind the puzzle palace that we take their announcements seriously and make decisions based on those announcements.
Christmas is coming Coffee Cup and that matters to your customers.

I am also waiting - waiting, I need stock control of some sort as a lot of the items i want to sell are one offs which obviously I can ony sell once.
If I had known Shopping Cart Creator Pro would be this long I would have gone with Actinic catalog it costs a bit but is very easy to set up and easy to use (I have used it before).
But I wanted to be able to have a few sites all with shopping carts on and that is why I have been waiting but (and I know its my choice) I have lost a lot of sales by waiting, if it does go on for too much longer though I will have no other choice and will just have to go with another shopping cart.
Good thing my real world business is doing well ;-)

I have been very loyal, but can no longer afford to wait around month, after month, after month. The last update many months ago being that the manual was being written. That's going to be some manual.

I must have missed the loyal customer discount announcement, I stand corrected, but all I have ever gotten is introductory package deals at reduced cost that everyone gets first time buyers or long term customers. I think I remember seeing a message that owners of the basic package can upgrade to the pro for a price.
The packages I have helped with beta testing, I do get tossed one of the $9 books which I appreciate almost as much as getting my hands on the beta software, (nothing compares to that new software smell)
A couple of years ago when I joined the Ambassador program I got a coffee cup, and a couple of other things.
All this being said though I can understand some of the frustration people are feeling, especially as Will said, their prime selling season (Christmas in my case) is rapidly approaching and need to get their cart up soon so it can be found during the selling season.

I believe the last official status update was posted on July 20th when Scott said there are "many little variables that we are trying to juggle before launch."
I, for one, am not as anxious as others since the basic version works for me. I am, however, looking forward to having inventory control and SKUs but neither is a requirement for me. What I'm really looking forward to is the ability to sell virtual products. I suspect this is likely to be a year or more from becoming a reality, though. I'm also curious to know what the price will be.
Having said all that, I do think it would be nice to receive an official status update again. Are they still working on the "many little variables" or have bigger ones sprung up?
