everything seems to have the 755 permission

You can select the permissions, and you should only need to do 1 or 2 files, then check and make sure they uploaded. Are you sure you were set to upload to the 'web root' and not the 'home directory' ?

I have support on the line and they are saying the ftp log shows I uploaded the files to http://minerva-gallery.com/files/ but those are not the files from the shop, I don't think.

well, there should have been a lot more files, and they would have been dated today, i would have thought.

So what exactly did he say? You should upload to /home4/minerva//public_html/shop/ ?

Ask them exactly what your remote folder should be for and FTP upload, and what transfer protocol you should be using since you have an SSL installed?

I am currently uploading to the server while I am on chat with him and he says he is not seeing any uploads. I will ask him

The folders uploaded before, not the files. Seems like it's still a permissions problem on the server.

As a last resort, you might see if you can temp disable your SSL and see if the files upload. Last resort.

he said I should be using FTP Port 21 and that the SSL does not cover FTP

Okay, that's standard FTP upload, as long as you have the remote folder set right, and the permissions on the server are set right. Should be able to publish from SCC or use an FTP client if those are correct. You tell him you tried to upload via cpanel and that didn't work either?
