I searched the archives & scanned all the titles and haven't found the answer. (Perhaps because it may be a bone-headed question?)

I'm wondering if SCC can allow a customer to register and keep track of items in their cart if they leave the site & return (for a fixed period of time) and also allow them to check their order history and maintain a user profile with shipping and/or payment info (card on file, etc...).

Yes and No. If a person leaves the site it might be the case that when they return their items will still be in their cart, depending on the browser cache-ing properly. However, SCC does not keep user information. It is not a bone-headed question though, I hope that one of the updates for SCC pro addresses this issue.
