Help - my server is PHP version...

I read your cautionary note "To use Shopping Cart Creator (Basic or Pro) on your Windows (IIS/7.0) or Linux server, you must have PHP 4.4.7 (will not work with PHP 5) or higher..." [from http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … software/]

So I ran a phpinfo script <www.adam.co.nz/phpinfo.php> and see that my server is PHP Version 5.2.17.

Does this mean my server is over-qualified?
Am I not able to use my newly-purchased Shopping Cart Creator?

In http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … th-php-5x/ it mentions
At this time, Shopping Cart Creator has not been updated to support PHP 5. However, with just a small change to one of the included PHP files, you can make the shop function correctly. Here is what you need to do.
1. Locate the config.inc.php file in your shop folder.

Ahem, I don't have a config.inc.php file in my shop folder.

Now what. I've saved and previewed several times, uploaded successfully. What generates config.inc.php?

It will be on your server in the main shop directory. ie: if your shop is at www.yourdomain.com/shop/ then it will be in that directory.
On your computer it will be in the folder that you export your shop to. ie: If you export to /documents/myshop/ there will be a subfolder called documents/myshop/yourshopname-server and it will be in that folder.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Gunsmoke,
I had already written my own website (www.adam.co.nz) and now I want to add a shopping cart facility. Using Shopping Cart Creator [Basic] I put it all in a folder called 'adam.co.nz/shop' and after previewing it several times to get the hang of the software, I clicked the "Publish" button... I see now that I missed the Export step before I published.

Faced with exporting it back to the same folder or to another, I didn't know which:
'adam.co.nz/shop/Brian_Adam_Jewellery-server' or
'adam.co.nz/Brian_Adam_Jewellery-server'.
Since I already have a website, which is the recommended action?

I'll remember to hand-edit the file config.inc.php before uploading.
Maybe one day I'll get brave and incorporate cart pages into my own pages! so the items on my pages are furnished with "Buy now" buttons.
Is that possible, or do you recommend I keep all the cart pages separate, inside the 'Brian_Adam_Jewellery-server' folder?

Do not upload the "adam.co.nz/Brian_Adam_Jewellery-server" folder, but the contents it contains. Files and folders. And keep the format of all folders within that folder. Your shop needs to know where to look for the specific files it uses.

Remember too, after you edit that config file, every time you modify your cart and either export or publish again, you will need to re-edit that file and upload it again. So keep a copy of what you change in that file so you can change it again when required.

Thanks. I still don't understand the difference between "export" and "publish".
I 'export' then use the 'publish' button to upload (and use FileZilla to check it's happened).

I assume my edited config.inc.php file inside /Brian_Adam_Jewellery-server goes up as well!

I'll check with filezilla.

Thanks for your replies.

Publish is when you use Shopping Cart Creator to upload your shop. Export is when you use a 3rd party FTP program to upload your shop.

That config file should get created and uploaded no matter which method you use. Just remember that if you 'publish' then use Coffeecups DirectFTP to edit that file on the server to make it compatible with your php version. With filezilla you have to download the config, edit it, then upload it again. CC makes it so much easier.
