Just purchased scc and for the life of me, after I choose a theme, I can't figure out how to edit/change the text. I know......this is a silly question, but got to ask as I just can't figure it out.

I searched for "edit text" in the help pdf with no hits. I mean, who wants lorem ipsum dolor ......, in their site.

Galen, Are you working in SCD or SCC? All that filler text is in SCD just to show you how you text will look when you actually enter it in your shop in SCC.

yeah that sounds like the Designer software rather than the Cart software. One main thing to keep in mind is that when you're looking in the Designer software (hopefully you got the Pro versions so you have the full features) that what you see in there is only placeholders. For the most part you are looking at what it will look like "stylewise" rather than content wise. None of the main text will be the same, the menu will not be the same words or order, and the image boxes are just blank placeholders for you to edit their sizes, padding, margins etc.

What you "will" need to focus on in the Designer program is the Logo and Banner areas, placements (paddings and margins) of the menu, search box (if you're using pro version of the cart software "and" designer software), sizes of image boxes, lineup of image boxes, text Fonts/Colors/Styles/Spacing and so on and so forth. Once you have that all the way you like it, save it, export it to the cart software and be sure to choose that theme in the theme list in the cart software.

Do keep in mind you cannot use Pro versions of the themes with the Basic versions of the cart and visa versa.

The site I will be working on will be pet portraits and will only have between 10 and 15 portraits at a time.

I went back and I realized I purchased SCD and not SCC. So I now have SCC too.

Could one of you kindly just give me a simple work flow for the interaction between SCC and SCD.

I am now a capable user of VSD, but this seems to be a completely different game. I went completely through the SCC pdf help file and still don't really understand the proper work flow.

Galen, this may not be ideal, but I found myself working like this...
With both programs open; I started with the designer to get my logo in place, highlight area photo, font choices/colors, menus, adjusted padding and margins... Then saved it as a theme and exported/opened it in the cart creator. Previewed to see if it was looking OK, then added the shop stuff: product photos and prices, text, shipping rates...
Preview and see if anything needs to be adjusted back in the designer. If so, make the changes and export to the cart creator. You can't preview from the designer, so that's why you want to have them both going – so you can jump over to the creator as needed to see how everything looks.

After a few back and forths between the SCD and the SCC, it becomes routine.
