Before I upload my shop I do have a question about inventory. For some items I only have one of a kind so in the "in stock" area I have place the number 1, my question is will Shopping Cart automatically change the "in stock" to zero once those single items are purchased? I would hate to have someone want an item that is one of a kind and already sold! Any help would be appreciated and I thank you in advance.

Oh dear I need to rephrase my question. When your adding items to your store In the more options tab you may put in the quantity you have. The default is 1, if I don't change that once that single item is sold will the quantity automatically change to 0? I have a screen shot for you to look at.

Right now the answer is no. If your inventory is depleted, you need to remove that from your cart.

Eventually we will add in more inventory management support. Right now we are concentrating on Taxes and custom styles.

What you are seeing is not a stock control feature. It simply allows you to determine how many of a particular item you would want a customer to buy at one time. If you set it to 1 each customer that wants that item can only order 1 at a time. The second option lets you choose from 1 - 5 at a time. That simply means that each customer can buy anywhere from 1-5 at a time. The last option lets the customer choose how many of the item they want, up to any amount. It is in no way a stock control feature. If you set it to 1 and a customer buys one, the next customer that comes along can buy 1 also. It will never display an out of stock situation or stop someone from buying the item.

I'm hoping I understand that you will be adding a stock quantity setting for the shopping cart creator? I too will need this function to be able to use this program and would love to purchase it asap if I know it will be added to the program soon.

Limited quantity items makes it hard to police a site in a practical setting, we'd have to be watching it constantly to be sure we don't oversell something we have a limited stock of so I too was looking all over the program and tutorial videos for a way to set a stock quantity and finally came here.

Please let us know if this is something coming soon. I see these were all posted back in March and since it's now August I'll cross my fingers that it's in the works and not long from now :)

I just got Shopping Cart Creator & Designer. I wish I would have read the forums before I bought it. I understand setting up an inventory management system is a future item, but having only one-of-kind items in my shop makes it impossible for me to use the program as it is now. Would it not be possible to set a field for the number available, and then just subtract 1 from that as items are bought. If the quantity available is 0 then it can't be put in the cart.

I hope fixing this is a top priority.

I sell OOAK items so I add an item number to the item description and maintain a very large spreadsheet of where and what is listed. I list the same items on two or more sites so record keeping is very important. So I basically do my own inventory control. Here comes the however, this item identifier (number) buried in the description will not show up on an invoice. I understand that Pro will have a field for item number. Will a number be assigned by the CCSC software or will I have to assign a number as I do now. There is a work-around in that I think the additional options field will show up on an invoice.

The pro version of cart creator will have inventory control at some stage. I don't know whether this will be part of the initial version which is scheduled for release within the next few weeks.

Not quite sure how accurate the inventory management will be though, as there is a difference between adding an item to the cart and actually paying for it. That is a problem that also affects the inventory accuracy of many other shopping carts out there too. The cart creator as with other cart programs offers a range of payment providers, who all work differently in how they notify the shop owner that a sale has taken place.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
