The way we are using coupons is a bit different then the general discount you refer to though. You might decide to generate a coupon and send it to a group of customers that have bought a specific product, or use that in a specific advertisement, etc. It only applies to that group and you can measure the response. If it slips into a few other hands, would you care?

Also in your case, if that customer gives the code to 3 more people, would you care? I understand now what you want to do though - just want to make sure we have the correct perspective before we start coding :)

I am going on the way it is implemented in other cart software. Obviously I wouldn't want the scenario where someone posted the code up on Facebook, or Twitter. In that context my existing customers would perhaps quite righly feel cheated?

By the same token, Coffeecup produces innovative products and I am more than happy to explore new concepts and new ways of working. We'll leave the dinosaur 'we have always done it this way' mentality to the other software houses out there. :D

Yep, that is always the dilemma, you want them to post it everywhere because it will bring you new customers, but you don't want your existing customers to have a bad feeling about it. It is a fine balance, but in our experience it usually works out pretty well. Most people are actually nice and understanding, but maybe we have been lucky with our customers

Thanks for the feedback, let us look into it for a bit.

Always happy to give you folks over at Coffeecup our feedback. :D

I'm just glad that the weight based shipping is finally becoming a reality in the Pro version and is now being developed. :):)

As many forum members have already indicated, they are quite happy for a short delay on the release of the Pro version, if it enables a wider range of features to be incorporated on its initial outing. That would be highly preferable to constantly upgrading and constant forum shrieks of when's it getting ...xxxx...feature.?? :D

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
