I'm getting meta verbiage together, a subject I know zip about. Although most of what I offer for sale is handcrafted by me, I also carry lots of Native American created jewelry.

Here is what I'm considering for the category of Southwestern Style Jewelry Set in Sterling Silver

Meta Keywords:
Southwestern, Jewelry, Sterling silver, Native American, silversmith, turquoise, handcrafted, coral, necklace, jewelry set, earrings, bracelet, bola tie, bolo tie, belt buckle, ring

Meta Description:
Southwestern Style Jewelry Set in Sterling Silver created mostly by Native American silversmiths.

Any thoughts about using Handcrafted by Seller in the Meta Description for jewelry that I created. Do you think anyone really cares whether I made it or bought it for resale?

Thanks

You have to look at it from the perspective of the buyer Sally and what they are realistically likely to type into Google. :)

A good place to start would be to Google Native American jewelry. Take a look at the top ranking websites and see what they have listed as keywords and key phrases.

Thanks Tom, good suggestion. BTW, the reason I use Southwestern rather than Native American is the flood of jewelry referred to as Native American that is actually imported. Actually, some crafters are importing the completed setting and than inserting stones, stamping it sterling and signing it.

I did a Google on handcrafted by seller turquoise necklace and one of my Buy It Sell It (now Highwire) items was the third item on the first page. My BISI store gets better search engine results that my CC Cart so I also need help with SEQ. I have so much really neat and reasonably priced jewelry, I should be doing far better than I am. So much to learn....

There are various keyword programs out there that can help you generate proper keywords. Its a very difficult process that involves quite a lot of research. This is why there are SEO firms out there that charge a ton of money to do it for you.

Philosopher, beautiful personal website. Your innovate site is super, looks like you integrated Flash Search into it.

Back to SEO, I'm too poor and too cheap to pay a SEO firm. However, I have to do something to get more Online sales. I'm pretty intuitive when it comes to finding my way around a computer so.....

So much to learn, so little time.........

One of my sites in always on page one of Google for selected keywords, which is quite a surprise as I originally forgot to put any meta tags in there. I have left the tags empty since I found out about that omission a couple of years ago, as I didn't want to spoil a winning formula........ LOL :)

Although you may be ranked 3rd on that page for your BISI page that you googled, it could be because that phrase is not searched for much. As Will has mentioned, put your mind into the frame of the searcher rather than the seller and think about your products and how you'd look for something like that. I know I need to redo my keywords again after giving a lot of thought to it the other day too lol. I know I for one wouldn't look for that phrase you typed. I might look for handcrafted turquoise jewelry or handcrafted jewelry but I know I for sure wouldn't even consider typing handcrafted by seller ... so I guess that's how I would look at it.

Hi Jo Ann. Actually I did a search for an off-set turquoise necklace and the two necklaces I made with off-set turquoise beads are also on page one and are two of the first four items listed. They are in my BISI store. Now if they would just sell. Most of my items don't have quite such unique titles. Of course there is the dog-ear turquoise listings.

Thanks for your reply: I know I for sure wouldn't even consider typing handcrafted by seller ..
You answered my question in my first post, Any thoughts about using Handcrafted by Seller in the Meta Description for jewelry that I created. Do you think anyone really cares whether I made it or bought it for resale? Guess not, good to know.

Time to get back to meta stuff, boring.
