This should be part of the basic version, since it's standard to have sub-categories on nearly every shopping cart.
But of course, you want people to pay for the new Pro version. So much for simply updating the basic version with standard improvements.

The basic version is for people that want a simple shopping cart that is easy to use. The pro version is an advanced program for shop owners that need more extensive feature sets. The cart designer program is already available in both basic and pro versions to reflect the different needs of shop owners.

The basic version will continue to receive enhancements and updates overtime as well. Right now we are concentrating on the Pro version. Once that is released, we will decide if we need to take anything from the Pro version and add it to the basic version or not.

How can you claim that when the "basic" version is the only version you offer? When people go to the Coffee Cup online store, it only lists Shopping Cart Creator and says nothing about the Pro version.

I'm just saying that Coffee Cup claims to provide updates to their software for life. That was one of the selling points for me and why I have purchased several Coffee Cup software programs.
However, it seems that the new thing for Coffee Cup is to create a PRO version of their software rather than just improve the current one. I think that is unfair to customers.
Now people will buy the Pro version of SC Creator, thinking it's the ultimate best, but who's to say that next year you won't have a Shopping Cart Creator Pro DELUXE that has features that should have been in SC Creator Pro?

The features that are going into the Pro version are not necessarily appropriate for the basic version. We have two distinct users and each version of Shopping Cart Creator will cater to them. If you want/need more features in the program, then the Pro version will be what you need.

First off, CC introduced the PRO version with Shopping Cart DESIGNER a few months back and having the choice of BASIC and PRO was well received. Not everyone wants the full-blown abilities that are offered in the PRO version. Since SCC goes hand-in-hand with SCD it makes perfect sense to have the BASIC and PRO versions available here too.
CC is not discontinuing their policy of lifetime upgrades. If anything they are adding to it. Now if you WANT the PRO version, and already have BASIC, they are only charging a portion of the full price for the upgrade. They very well could have said, the H3LL with us, and charged full price since it is it's own title. So now, you will be getting 2 pieces of software expanding your abilities (and therefore, your options that you can provide to your customers) with FREE UPGRADES FOR LIFE!
When's the last time MS, Adobe, Intuit, or any others did that for you? Gee, every time MS rolls out a new OS (even when it is total crap, and still looks like the last one) we must pay a hefty price to upgrade to it.

The soon to be released pro version, is a totally new program aimed at the business user that needs far more advanced feature sets. It is not an update, but a radically changed program offering an extensive array of new features for professional business use.
