Page splitting ...why and how can I...

I designed a fairly simple shop in cart designer and have it up live. Apart from issues with centering (which I still haven't resolved, just avoided) and then a problem uploading it to a sub domain (which I worked around by uploading it to a primary domain) it was going well.

I noticed today that one of the category pages is split:

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

Is it just too many items for that page theme? The page appears to be expanding but for some reason I have two boxes and the items span the two making it look rather ugly.

Hiya tassie,

This is due to the theme not having the right setup for the graphics to repeat correctly. I'm hoping at some future point that CC devs will adjust the themes to be inherently that way, but unfortunately they aren't at the moment. In order to correct this you'll need to use the Shopping Cart Designer and create a theme, or alter the one you are using and replace the graphics with a top, middle and bottom section so that it will repeat properly. You're more than welcome to check out the thread below which is where I got assistance on it to see if that will help you too. I'm not super good at all that yet or I'd try to help you do it, but there are many that are very good at it and helped me get mine set up correctly.

External Pages (not in SCC) Container setups:

SCC graphic size quesetions

I know there's another post out there somewhere, but I can't find it. If I do find it later I'll come back and post it here. Wish I could help more but it's pretty much a trial and error thing for me and theme things yet lol. At least you now know what's causing it.

Thanks for that :) I'll have a look at the links when my head doesn't feel like exploding. i was hoping it was going to be simple.

Do you think if I based my design on a different theme it would work better? If so which one might work?

If you take a look at my shop in my signature, you'll see the them I use. That theme is actually based off of the Jupiter theme which is included with the SCC. I use the Shopping Cart Designer Pro to edit and create any themes and it's quite nice and not too hard to figure out. Takes a little time to figure out all the little movement settings and I'm still baffled by a few myself yet lol, but it's pretty cool and really does a nice job on creating and editing themes.

The theme I chose did the same thing yours is doing right now so I had help splitting the graphics up to do the repeating middle section. And of course I altered the graphics by changing the color and the dimensions using Photoshop Elements.

I used the Jupiter theme too so we both struck the same problem with that theme.

I'm just about to upload another that seems to work better and based on the Film Noir theme. I think it will work better as I will have a lot of categories as well

Thanks tassie, most appreciated. As for the Film Noir theme, is that one already split up into parts? I didn't check any others yet, I just went ahead and did it myself with all the help I got, but maybe I should have looked at some others first lol. It should be easy enough to check it by just loading that theme in and seeing if it does the same thing. Also you can tell if you look at the graphics in the them to see if it's all one piece in the middle area or if it's separated in parts that can be repeated. I'll have to load up that theme later and see what it looks like :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
