Splitting my cart into two shops -...

Thanks Tom and Jo Ann, finally came the dawn about 3:00 AM. I have a hard head, what SCC calls remote folder is what cuteSITEbuilder calls FTP Directory and it also is public_html. There is an option to Publish to a Sub-directory.

I used cuteSITEbuilder in building my old, old website, www.universal-wxpressions.com (UE), however, the FTP Directory I used to keep UE at the root level was /web and no sub-directory. There is another element, Default Filename which is public_html. I'll bend my brain around that at another time.

Now I understand why my original SCC cart is not in a neat folder like my new cart. Now I think I understand that if I want myneatstuff in a neat folder I have to specify something like remote folder public_html/shop. I guess then I would have to direct buyers to www.myneatstuff.com/shop rather than the simplier www.myneatstuff.com.

Hiya Sally,

If you have gotten another domain, which I read that you repurchased an old one you had before, you should be able to go to that site you purchased it from and use tools that most of the domain sellers provide to redirect people to that new domain. There should be some type of domain forwarding service there if you look at that site a bit and see. They aren't usually too difficult to setup either, but hollar if you need help on something and I'm sure one or more of us can get you fixed up on that.

You can then point that to whatever subdirectory you put the other shop in without any difficulty.

I would also suggest that you name the shop something more unique in case you add more shops so that it doesn't default to the /shop on you by accident and overwrite something from one shop to another. This probably won't happen if you forget to put the public_html/ in front of the shop, but one can never be too careful lol.

Since you were planning to use the new domain name it shouldn't matter too much what you call the subdirectory but you could do something like swe_shop or whatever so that you know what it is without a doubt. Just a thought there :)

www.southwesternexpressions.com is up and running.and being forwarded to www.myneatstuff.com/swe I have lots more work to do on it. BTW, something really weird is going on. When I bring up www.southwesternexpressions.com the home page has featured products stacked one over the other. When I refreshed the cart, the featured products are listed three across. www.southwesternexpressions.com is masked so could that be the cause?

Back to my original cart. I decided to unpublish all Native American jewelry and am now uploading my cart to www.myneatstuff.com/mhj category by category. I own the domain name www.myhandcraftedjewelry.com which I am currently forwarding to my Buy It Sell It (now Highwire) store. I'll likely change the forwarding to www.myneatstuff.com/mhj. Back in the day of $2.95 domain name from Yahoo I bought several. Now Yahoo charges $34.00 for registration so I'll likely transfer the few I still have to Network Solutions.

The items displayed 3 across the first time without a refresh for me. I use 1and1 for domain registration. $8 a year to include private registration.

I'm really happy with my three carts. Good thing as it looks like it's not possible to copy an item from one cart to another. I still have my original cart sitting on /public_html/ rather than in a sub-directory. So....a new brain storm. I have lots of stuff that doesn't fit with any of my carts. I have lots of African stuff, masks, beaded wall hanging and such. Also, I like shopping for unusual stuff so I'm thinking of using www.myneatstuff.com as a sort of landing page with just a few weird categories and one page each devoted to each of my three carts with links.

No. You may point to any dns server.
