Version 3.6 What are people's...

Like many others I have upgraded to version 3.6 and have now had a chance to explore its features in more detail. Apart from the buggy teething problems that are quickly getting resolved, what do users actually think of this latest offering??

My own thought:- Well first off the spell checker is limited as it uses US English, so for those of us using International English, words like colour, tyre, jewellery, centre etc are always going to come up as mis-spelled words. I would rather have seen buttons to align text left, right or centre instead. A lot more useful tool.

Although there are now extra fields for options, the ability for putting cost variants on options limits this facility. Although this will be incorporated in the pro version, this is something that should really be in the basic version, as even free carts out there offer this functionality.

Themes, I would have like to have seen all the previous themes retained and the new themes added as an extra. Seem to have less themes available now which isn't good news for the folks that don't want to invest in the imminent release of the new themes designer.

So what are your thoughts? What do you like and what don't you like in 3.6? :|

Spell Check is not limited to English only. By default it comes with over 10 languages and you can add just a ton more. Go to the Edit Menu > General Settings and choose one you like to use or go to https://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles … rt-creator and download away!

For the most part, all of the same these are still there, but organized by either 800px or 1024px, so in essence we actually doubled the amount of the themes available. With the launch of Shopping Cart Designer you will be able to edit these themes or design your own.

As to features that you may want in the basic version, that is a matter of opinion. We are making sure to keep Shopping Cart Creator easy to use, setup and maintain. Over complicating the software with so many features is exactly why people are leaving programs like ZenCart for us. We make a complicated task easy. Also for $49, we think we are providing one hell of a good deal! :)

Suggestions for Shopping Cart Creator would be better served by posting here at http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/coffeec … t-creator/ This way everything is organized in one location.

Thanks for the info on the dictionary, althought the alignment buttons would have been more practical IMHO.

Options are only usable if there are no price variants. Higher grade versions or finishes, or cost related XXXL sizes etc will all need separate product listings. Very confusing for customers. :( Not every option is always going to be at the same price.!!

And that is why we are making a 'Professional' version............. :)

The pro version from my understanding, will not be available till at least the end of the year. Too late for people to capitalise on the Xmas trade.

I still use more complex software for most of my sites, so it's not a major issue for me. Programmers will always unfortunately decide on what they think people want from their software. Feedback from 'real world' users is often worth listening to.

The biggest benefit of SCC is its direct to payment provider, rather than making customers fill in tedious forms first. I do appreciate that Coffeecup is a small company that couldn't compete with the open source projects utilising hundreds of developers contributions, but having said that, SCC works very well.

I have got to say yet again, as a total computer novice, who has previously used Cubecart for two years, os commerce, zen cart, and magento, all the afore mentioned do more than coffeecup scc.

But i am now using scc and three other coffeecup programs, because they are so dam easy.

Friends of mine who are very computer literate, Two who are programmers with twenty plus years experience, cannot believe what i have achieved with these programs

hence my signature

PS need spell checker on forum please Scott

After a few problems all seems to be working well. I really like the option feature and being able to replicate throughout a category. I was able to add "Condition" "New" too 600 plus items in a few minutes. A spell checker is always helpful. Now I expect really great features in the Pro version.

WTG Coffee Cup and special thanks to Scott.

A release date hasn't been anounced yet, but I was under the impression that it could be before the end of the year... Maybe we're just looking at a glass half full/half empty between the two of us ;)

To be honest Phil, rather than rush to bring out the pro version, I am happy for Coffeecup to refine the product and thoroughly test it before release.

I have been an avid user of Zen Cart for many years, but the problem with that and virtually other cart out there, is they all have lengthy, tedious checkout procedures. Typically one second to click the buy button and 5 minutes to fill out the registration and checkout pages  Frustrating for customers and a real incentive for shopping cart abandonment. PayPal and Google will both have the buyers details, so you only need to know the destination to work out shipping costs BEFORE sending the customer to the payment processor. The developers at Coffeecup have been sensible enough to realise this and bring out a product to meet these simple needs.

Before purchasing SCC I must have downloaded over twenty other carts for evaluation. They ranged in functionality and practicality, from the sublime to the ridiculous. There was only one other cart out there that offered the quick checkout of SCC and that was flawed as it didn't have variable shipping options. With SCC I can have a simple drop down list of UK, Europe and Outside Europe on the cart page. Good for me and straightforward for my customers. In that respect SCC really does rock. :D

I do like SCC and it does get better with every release, little concerned about SEO but I am happy. I very much like the "No registration" and the choice of payment options. I think this is a huge plus!!! Looking forward to being able to customize the look.
