okay quick question ~

have any of you had any good results with animation speeds for your hover photos? Text?

I haven't figured out what speeds are good, especially concerning the delay. What attention span would be best to focus on to decide how long to delay the speed of the animation?

Hi Zoe
Someone somewhere once worked out that a Goldfish has an attention span of 9 seconds, but a human has an attention span of 8 seconds !!!!!
So as far as your question is concerned it depends on whom your main audience is targeting human or goldfish :D:D:D:D:D

Personally I think whoever sat down and studied the attention span of a goldfish needs to get out a little bit more and get a life :cool:

Seriously though Microsoft have conducted a survey about this and their conclusion is that the human attention span has decreased from the average of 12 seconds since the use of mobile devices on the internet took off.

Seriously though for things like text appearing say over an image, I have found that on average a delay of between 0.5 seconds and 1 second works pretty well and a duration of similar speeds (if there is some sort of motion involved(say fading in up or down from left or right) then one needs to consider people who may have some sort of motion sickness), so I tend to keep any motion involved a little bit longer by +0.7 seconds (keeping the opacity (fade in/out) to 0.5 seconds. There have been times when I found that even longer delays can have the effect of keeping the visitor for longer than the recommended 4 seconds (based on analytics results) especially if there is to be say two or even three animations appearing over an image or something, the last text animation around 2 seconds delay keeps the attention and interest going.

This makes the effect a little less of a surprise, but is still within the target of keeping attention spans.

For text/button hover effects then I have found that the default times set by Site Designer to be ok, no real need for customisation

Hovering over images (changing images/gradients sizes etc, can be a little bit slower than text, but should start sooner 0.3 seconds works for me quire well

STILL WITH ME ????

At the end of the day, work it out for what YOU think seems reasonable for whatever element you want apply animation to ask people you know (not necessarily designers/developers, there is also a saying ask 10 designers/developers a question you will get 12 answers)

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH WAYAN!!! Also, do you have any recommendations on where to find the proper way to send out email notifications for forms versus having the person who submitted the form's email as the person who is sending it to me? I found out yesterday I had a lot of those emails go to my spam folder and want to fix it for one email only. Thanks!

don't quite understand the question,, are you getting loads of emails from robot type spammers or only 1 or two and the rest from real human beings ( mind you some spammers are humans too) but they all go into your spam folder.

I always have a anonymous email account for a domain which the form notification goes to. I then forward all those emails to my other normal email account. If I then get one that is spammy from a real human I can go into my email server account and block it from there. That way if it is a human then they don't get to know my real email address so can't send spammy ones to my real address thereafter

I followed the instructions and was able to embed my web form. However, when I tested it, the email came straight to my inbox. Now, I had a few friends try it to see if it works, and they said yes. their responses went straight to my spam folder. I want to use one email and make sure it's not going to my spam so I don't miss their responses.

Well I suspect then that's more to do with browsers than web form builder, what works for me is that I can let browsers know that anything I get from my anonymous email address isn't spam, so then they all arrive in my real address inbox. Any that I get that I conclude are or maybe spam I block from my anonymous email server, so the email server blocks them thereafter (a little bit of extra work clearing that anonymous email server every now and again.

Hi ZOE Email Deliverability
in CPanel Emails section there is a thing that you can set up to stop emails being sent from a domains email account (anonymous as mentioned previously) that end up in the spam folder of your real email address, never used that but might help with your issue
